Hi, I purchased a used 2018 RDX, 61000 miles; top of line. Dealer trying to sell me Acura extended warranty for 1-4 years, covers most items.
They say a dash display could fail, $3500- $4000 to replace or the forward camera with radar (behind the glass) could fail $2000.
Does anyone have any history of failures of these items? Or is it just an upset tactic showing the FUD factor...."Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt at me?

 

The 2G RDX is a pretty sold vehicle. We have a 2016 Advance model that we bought used almost exactly 8 years and 86K miles ago. We have had zero issues and just done regular maintenance. In the past we have purchased two warranty plans on prior Acuras. One we made out very well as we had a few expensive repairs that were covered. On the other we didn't have one repair so $$ out the window. If it were me, I would pass. My $0.02
My guess it hasn't been done yet, but you should ask if the timing belt has been replaced yet. This is a somewhat expensive maintenance item that should be done ~ 7yrs / 105K.

 

Thanks for your reply on the warranty. I plan to inspect the timing belt for cracks and oil by removing the top cover and rotating the crankshaft pully. The 7 years have come due but not the mileage yet. It is on my radar. Good to hear you have not had any problems so far.

 

My sister has a 2017 with elite trim, she bought in brand new and has about 40K miles. so far no issue. After Acura Plus warranty expired, she refused to buy more warranty. On the Acura Plus she had, didn't get a chance to use.
