2009 tl tech 3.5 auto
Greetings from overly hot SE PA!
As from thread title and my screename, boy just acquired 2009 TL Tech 3.5l, 5 speed auto., 173K miles .Found out boy is 4th owner. I'm the hood jerker in the family and will not hesitate to ask any TL questions in the Forums.
First order of business was tire inflation check, (Run 40 psi in all our rides), oil change with Amsoil OE and Purolator Max filter. Chose Amsoil OE because it's good for 10K miles and cheapest Amsoil oil.
If there is any better combination of oil / filter, run it by me. What's the deal with oil plug washers? Is aftermarket as good as OEM?
Previous owner stated timing belt was changed about 50K miles ago - no paperwork. Now I'm somewhat frustrated as I don't think I can handle the possibility of changing the belt myself. If there is some member that knows timing belt changes and has time on their hands in SE PA and that likes to help others, I'd love to meet that man/woman. Why would Honda use a timing belt instead of a chain?
Will have to get new rubber all the way around, am open to high quality, stock size, reasonably priced tires advice.
Will need new rotors/pads in rear, am open to high quality, reasonably priced kits advice.
Also am open to any high mileage TL motor/trans issues that are known to occur.
