05 Acura TL base model

Hey fellow Acura peeps, I purchased a 2005 TL in early June 2019 and have been on many forums looking to fix what had bothered me after driving it awhile and have noticed the same issues I have are incredibly common. For one, 3G definitely lives up to the rattle box complaints I've read continuously about but think I've stopped nearly all of mine. Second, the 270hp is fast as hell and it's a joy to drive every time I hop in. Leather is still soft with no flaws. Excited to continue reading forums for other ideas and unknowns - such as discovering my foglights are integrated in my headlights - which makes little sense but maybe I'll get the lower lamps and but kind of afraid of messing with the plastic molding and damaging beyond repair. Enough rambling, thank everyone in advance for any and all repairs and tips.

Welcome; I see you have an automatic.

Do yourself a favor and research the care and feeding of your transmission.

  • Change the ATF out three separate times with genuine Honda DW-1 (do NOT flush)
  • Replace the third and fourth gear shift sensors
  • Wait until at least 105,000 miles for the tune-up and timing belt.

After your message I did some research and noticed it was a very common and reported problem, guess I'll add that to my list of things to do. Thanks for the heads up.
