MA thread
Welcome. Those are all things that you could do in your driveway if you have basic hand tools and a few friends willing to give you a hand. If you're serious about building your motor for performance, there's a guy down in VA that knows J Series motors very well.
I have a fairly big shop in the back yard. I can fit 3 or 4 cars in it. I should have no problems with DIY. I need someone to help me with finding and buying (stores not money) what I need. I am looking for a shop that sells and stocks some of the parts it sells to see the quality that I am buying I have a hard time spending money on something that I cant see. Most of my friends have Mustangs, GN or Corvette's and they look down at tuners. I know there are a lot of threads in fact there are so many that it leaves me confused and irritated. I am in South Korea right now and my internet connection is slow. I guess what I am looking for is something that I can drive everyday and take to the track or a car show every other week. Something that looks aggressive but is still refined.
Gotcha. There are a few shops that I know of, but not all of them I would consider "good" or able to cater to the import crowd. There's Dent Sport Garage in Norwood. One of the guys that works there was at one of the AcuraZine meets earlier in the summer. He was a pretty nice guy and fairly knowledgable. I've heard a lot of good stuff about them as a garage, but have never used them personally.
Word, if you want to work with a garage, I'd say hit up Dent Sport as well. Some of us know one of the guys who works there, Nick, pretty well. Good guy!
But I wouldn't say that type of tuner/race shop is where you want to source standard order parts, lol.

I'll keep my eyes peeled. Were you stationed in VA before? There's a guy down NOVA that builds J Series motors that is a valuable resource if you ever get down there. I'll be there in a few weeks for some work that is beyond my ability.
I moved to Virginia Beach for about 10 years. I moved back to Foxboro last year. I am a Merchant Marine which basically means that I am a contract worker on a U.S. Navy ship. I am a Navigation officer on a Navy ship that carries government cargo. I work for 4 months onboard ship then get 4 months of vacation. Not that it has anything to do with my Acura. I will be going home in early February. My Dad is driving my car around for now at least until his truck is finished.
I've got a spare K24 block if you want to make big power Jeff.
By the way, let me know what you plan on using. I've been planning a build for a while now, so I've already done a ton of research.

yeah, i mean i love doing stuff myself but the internals of the motor i think im going to leave up to someone else. I think I am going to either Jeff Evans or D-rob in PA. when it comes time I think I will just drop the car off and say here, build the motor, tune me, w/e lol
well.... i was thinking that but i figured why not just use my motor instead, I have a 2nd car anyway. I am hoping the funds will be there, i figure tax return, plus i may be switching to a new position at $33/hr with a shitload of overtime. sundays are double time, holidays are triple... lol so hopefully soon money wont be an issue. if not i will be going to design in december at $28.05/hr
Hell ya!!! i agree, but going for the same setup and sticking with the k20, so i cant really talk haha! if i had the extra money i would do a k24 swap shit would be so much fun!!! im trying to get a truck now so i dont have to drive it in the winter.

Tim
lol jk but yeah i think im going to build the motor and go FR with a GT35
