Hamilton on pole. That seemed to come out of nowhere, lighter fuel load maybe?

Kimi went off in the last corner and lost a bit of time, and that definately cost him the pole.

yeah, I think the Kimster had it and tossed it off at Luffield as all I saw was arms and elbows as he tried to recover the car. Oh well, tough luck. I like the way Kimi drives usually but can he get a fuckin' personality implant???

Ferrari!!!!! Now all we need is hamilton to not finish a race or 2 and we are back in business.

Side note. Massa had one hell of a drive to start in pit lane and end up 5th. Ferrari really looks strong.

Did anyone notice on Speed/Fox that the commentators kept saying that Honda reverted back to their 2006 car at Silverstone? But there is no mention of this on any web site. Honda's own web site is still saying that the team is using the 2007 car.

Just another reason the Speed commentators sux. Too bad there isn't a mute button just for the commentary.

I dunno why everyone bags on the Speed guys all the time. I think they arent too bad, and I find them funny a lot of the time. The guys they have on TSN are no better.

P Windsor can get bloody annoying though.

David Hobbs is the most unprofessional of the bunch, and I am positive that he is drunk most of the time. He is always making stupid sounds. These days, his favorite line is 'eeeewwweee,' as is the sound of cars going past you. Does he think this is third grade?

I used to like Steve Matchett, but now he is getting more and more annoying. He used to be very professional, but he has picked up alot of annoying habits (probably from Hobbs), such as his new found love of grunting. Example during qualifying, "C'mmmmon [insert driver name], push, push, pushhhhh! Gettt ittt donnne! You cann do-it. Rrnnnng!"

And for some reason, I just don't like Bob Varsha. I've listened to him for years, from covering CART to F1 back to CART and now back to F1. All he does every week is just read off what's been printed on the latest F1 news websites.

at Hobbs being drunk most of the time.

I like Matchett, and am fine with Varsha.

To each his own.

I like the three amigos as well. As for Hobbs I have been around him when he had several libations and he is always reserved my guess he is just cranked up on coffee that early and not intoxicated.

Just be glad we don't have to deal with the ITV crew, the few times I have heard them they drive me nuts. Even worse than them would be Derek Daley and Ralph Shaheen. Peter is the only one of the current crew I have issues with.

As for the RA06 being used at Silverstone I think Peter got that wrong. He reported it from Silverstone and the three guys in Charlotte just commented on it. I have looked at a extensive number of stills and the video and it seems practically impossible the car at Silverstone could be the RA06. In any case it is sad to see the RA107B look no better, maybe even worse then the RA06. I wouldn't be surprised that they would like to use the RA06 but IP issues probably pervent it anyway. Even the mighty McLaren had to revert to the previous years with the stillborn M4/19, well actually it never turned a wheel in anger during the '03 campaign they just kept running the MP4/18.

Derek Daly = "Lieutenant Mumbles" or "Marblemouth" b/c I can't understand half of the way he sounds when he talks. I turn the sound off and won't listen at all when he's commentating.

on Derek Daly. The worst motor sports commentator of all time. He must have some dirt on somebody out there.

One last comment on the Speed crew. Did they mention the Nigel Stepney case at all during the broadcast? I was doing other things while watching the race and qualifying, but don't remember them mentioning what is the biggest off track news in F1 this past week. Matchett is buds with Stepney, so I'm just wondering if they just ignored this topic completely.

No, they actually talked about the stepney thing a number of times. Matchett sounded quite upset/un-nerved I guess you would say,.......when talking about how if these allegations are true etc, how disappointing it is for the Sport etc. He did mention how he was friends with Stepney as well. I think it was Varsha who more or less outlined the whole deal, and Hobbs and Matchett commented etc.

I think Derek's main asset in terms of getting jobs is the people hiring him look to the fact he has almost 50 F1 starts, not many people who live on this side of the pond have those credentials and announce. They assume he knows something about F1 but even despite his voice he sounds like he hasn't followed F1 in 20 years and I fear he actually has a perverse "love" for curbs, I keep waiting for him to say "Jesus Christ" in his best South Park Mr. Slave voice when someone bounces over one.

As West said they did mention the scandel several times, mainly on Friday. Steve did sound absolutely gutted in regards to the sport. PW said something to the effect that when he was in F1 (as part of the team) crap got stolen all the time, no biggie. Peter worked for Ferrari and most recently as Williams team manager in the early 90s.
