The aero's are all screwed up in the Honda cars. So the car can't go very fast in the flat-out long straights.

Also the two Honda's were planned for a one-stop strategy and so were loaded up with fuel, and thus were slower than the lighter two-stop cars. Unfortunately, the weather screwed everything up. So it is not surprised to see them being slow at the earlier session of the race. But Button showed that his car got faster and faster as more and more fuel was burnt away.

Nice pics. Would you go back to that GP? How were the people/accomodations/food?

Oh yeah definitely. This is my 2nd time that I've been there. The first time was 3 years ago(?), the first ever chinese grand prix. I have family in Shanghai so everything was good. For a tourist/fan, I would highly suggest it while the USD is still worth something. There were alot of foreigners at the race. There are shuttles from 6 different locations in the city to take you on the 1 hour drive to the track. I personally wished that when they stopped at the track, they would've stopped at the main entrance. We had to walk 30 mins from the opposite end of the track to get to the main entrance.
I would say that for 2 people, it could cost about $4500 to $5000 USD for this trip. I'll break that down for you.
2 plane tickets, $800 - $1200 economy and depending on who you fly with. China Eastern is like $800 while United is $1200. Air China is about $1000, it code shares with United.
2 3-day main grand stand tickets - $530 Gets cheaper from there.
5 days of hotel, $150 - $1000 (?) depends on how well you want to stay.
That plus shopping for gifts and food and you can see how it's coming down.
The people in Shanghai who were outside of the track weren't especially helpful. They don't speak English and only Chinese. I at least spoke both. There are alot of street peddlers around the track selling knock-off t-shirts, hats, flags and so on. I bought 3 Ferrari Hats for $12. Official memorabilia inside the entrance were more expensive.
Shanghai itself is a great city. As a friend that went back with me says, it's going to be really hard to convey the awesomeness if they've never been there. I would suggest that if anyone go there, make sure you arrive at PuDong Airport. That way you might be able to take the Maglev train from the airport to the city. It travels at 432Kph, around 270Mph. I think the price of a 1 way ticket is only like $5 USD or something, when I went on it 2 years ago. It's a 7 minute ride compared to a 40 minute cab ride.

I miss spoke, the tickets were $530 each for 3-day main grand stands. so 2 is over $1000.
My next stop would be Singapore if I could, but I can't make it for the 2008 inaugural race. Maybe 2009 but not sure yet. Depending on when the world expo is in Shanghai in 2010, if it coincides with the F1 race again, I'll definitely be going to both. I suppose that US and Canadian would be cheaper as far as plane tickets go, but for some reason they just didn't draw me to the track.
