Need help with Button's contractual obligations

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows about the contract that bounds J.Button and Williams signed? I may have misunderstood the guy on Speed TV but from what i could understand, Button may be going to Williams at a certain point this year????

Anyone have more details on his contract with Williams?

Thanks ahead

Luc

I'm not sure if anyone knows for sure what contract JB and Williams have agreed on, if there is even a signed contract. The only thing we know for sure is that JB is bound to BAR for 2005. However, JB could leave BAR for Williams(or any other team that wants him) in 2006, if JB does not have at least 70% of the points of the championship leader by the GP of Hungary this year. If JB does not have at least 70% of the championship leader by Hungary, he could sign with any other team, or even choose to remain at BAR.

I hope he stays. This shit needs to come to an end in a peaceful manner. He's a great driver with a great future ahead. Look at his performance last weekend. Why not stay with a team that is also devoted to a strong future? Honda obviously is ready to contend. Proof in the performance of not only last weekend, but also in the big chunk that Honda now owns in BAR F1.

We can all hope that "the power of dreams" prevails. To play it safe, let's also hope that he has the points by the time they hit the Hungaro-ring.

Another example showing that Honda is serious...

Actually, the contract reads if he doesn't have 70% of the championship leader's driver points by the end of July, he IS bound to go to Williams. At least that's the way F1 Racing reports it.
