I for one hope this is going to happen-a former champion who ruined his career getting a chance for some retribution:

VILLLENEUVE READY FOR BAR RETURN
Last Updated: Wednesday, 18, August, 2004, 05:17

Jacques Villeneuve says he has buried the hatchet with David Richards and is ready to return to BAR.

The 1997 world champion left the team in acrimonious circumstances at the end of last year – but he said that is now all in the past.

Villeneuve told this week’s Autosport magazine: “We’ve cleared that. I’ve led my life always shutting the book on the past and going forward. So there’s no reason to do it differently now.”

Asked what how he reacted to news that Jenson Button was leaving the team, Villeneuve said: “The first thing I did was rebuild all the bridges that had been there in the past.

“I called David Richards, Geoff Willis, Honda, BAT everybody. I’ve been in contact with Jock Clear since I left the team.

“I just got in touch to say ‘I’m ready’.

“The reaction from Honda was extremely positive, even from David actually.

“We can put the past behind us, and I’m sure we can work something out.”

Villeneuve is convinced that he is the man to replace Jenson Button, who looks set for a move to Williams.

He said: “Why am I the guy for BAR? Because they need someone that can adapt to the team very quickly.

“I’m experienced, I know what it takes to win and I’ve won before.

“I’ve been with the team through the hardest time and we all survived it together until this year, until everything changed. So it’s unfinished business, and that means I’m very hungry.

“There’s a trust and respect within the team, with the mechanics, the engineers. It’s the same with Honda - the way they responded shows that it’s still present.”

The rumor is he may look at Sauber if BAR doesn't work.
