I love Memorial Day weekend racing: Monaco GP, Indy 500 and the Coca Cola 600. Perfect!

Friday practice Alonso gets to 4th!
Alonso P4 on Fast Friday | PlanetF1 : PlanetF1
Watching timing and scoring, there's a category called "NTR" or "No tow rating" where he was 5th. Not too shabby for a rookie.

Alonso: 5th! Middle of second row. So cool to see the man who stopped Schu's reign as F1 WC stick it to the Indycar regulars.

Never thought I'd say this, but I'll be cheering Alonso on.
Hope that Bourdais has a speedy recovery.

If you're any kind of F1 fan, you have to cheer Alonso on as he represents the sport.

I don't think any F1 driver needs to represent F1. Past data already shows that it's much easier to go from F1 to Indy than the other way around.

Was definitely cheering him on in quali. Super impressed how in such short time he was able to learn driving on the oval and qualify so high.

Indy 500 pole sitter Scott Dixon, Dario Franchitti robbed at Taco Bell drive-thru
Indy 500 pole sitter Scott Dixon, Dario Franchitti robbed at Taco Bell drive-thru outside Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Dixon's teammate Tony Kanaan told reporters Monday that he was supposed to be with them Sunday night when Dixon went out to buy food for a number of drivers.
"Obviously, I'm glad they're OK," Kanaan said. "Now obviously I can make fun of them big time."

You just won pole at the Indy 500 and where do you go to celebrate? Taco Bell of course.

Blast from the past. 25 years since the Galmer won Indy. I remember that race like it was yesterday.

An improvement but still the forward rear wheel treatment needs to go.

IMO the CART/Champ cars of the 80's and 90's are far better looking than anything IndyCar ever fielded.

Early 90's CART cars were great looking IMO
I got Nigel to stand next to my wife post-pole position conference for a picture at this race in Mid-Ohio. Got to find that picture, we were just talking about it yesterday.

Those were the glory days. The current cars are so ugly, The whole car looks ugly, especially the front nose area.

^ +1 IMO, Champ/CART even up to the very end in 2007 (Panoz below with nice lines, high nose with lower wing supports, and a wasp tail section like F1 cars) had nice looking car, wheither Panoz/Lola/March/Penske/Rahal/...
I spent some time looking at that Indy and Champ cars above (I took the pictures at the Amelia Concours this year), no matter what angle you looked at the 2016 car it just looks awkward. The March 86C looked great from any angle.

The Panoz was okay, but it looked a little like an Atlantic car that got big.
Loved all those late 80 to 90 cars. Penske, Raynard, Lola, Truesport, Galmer, Swift, Eagle, March. Good times.

The Panoz looked very similar to a McLaren MP4/16 from the front.
Always liked the side profile of it too, really clean lines
Man, I still miss Champ/CART races.

So glad Scott Dixon was not hurt in that terrifying crash, he had no where to go to avoid it.

Damn, the Honda Indycar 2.2L twin-turbo V6 is supposed to be bullet-proof, back in the previous years.
Now, the Honda boss should start tearing down the motorsport (F1 and Indycar) engine department, and find someone more capable to take its helm.
However, the Honda motorbike and the Honda showroom-sportcar departments are still doing good.
