Anyone think Vettel is catcheable at this point in the season? Webber, Hamilton, Alonso, and Button need to gain +10 points/race on Vettel for the remainder of the season to have a shot at overtaking him.

I don't think it's gonna be a cakewalk for Vettel like it was for MS when it was wrapped up by Spa. McLaren's drivers won't win it because they are free to take points from one another but will give RBR a pain in the ass. Ferrari will be there to pounce on leftovers. The cars seem more equal now than they have all season thus far. Now it's up to the drivers.

Conspiracy hat on: Anyone think the FIA is working on Pirelli to slow down Red Bull to extend the championship race? We're past the half way mark, so I'm sure Pirelli knows what tire compounds the Red Bull chassis struggles on. Just maybe they are supplying tires that struggle more on the Red Bull to keep things interesting.

Then Pirelli's messin' with Ferrari too (fellow Italian company status be damned) as the tires for the British and German GP's were not supposed to be good for the red cars.

As if we needed more evidence to hate Bernie more

I was reading a review of the "Bernie" biography book. One factiod from the book.

When he sold Brabham for $9M in the mid-80's, his chief engineer Gordon Murray who had worked for Bernie for 15 years, designing some great cars that produced two world drivers championships was shocked all he got from the sale was $49K.

Kovalainen says Button is a wimp.

Singapore is too tough a challenge for Formula One drivers, 2009 World Champion Jenson Button said in the city-state this week.

The McLaren driver has called on the length of the floodlit street race to be shortened due to the heat and high humidity, the bumpy surface and the fact it runs close to the sport's two-hour limit.

"We find it very tough and after the race you are shattered, in pieces," Button, 31, is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper.

"It's one of the races we actually think is a little too long, that they need to maybe shorten."

And The Sun newspaper quotes him adding: "At the end of the race all the drivers sit in their cars for a few moments before getting out. If you get out too quickly, you feel light-headed and dizzy.

"It (the race) is almost too tough — you're totally drained by the end. If you look at pictures on the podium, you can tell the drivers are not completely with it, due to the heat and dehydration," said Button.

But not all of the Briton's rivals agree with him: "The heat and humidity it pretty hardcore," acknowledged Team Lotus' Heikki Kovalainen, "but I like it."

Brazil's Globo quotes the Finn adding: "It is a big challenge and that is what F1 is about."

Don't forget it was Button that took Kovalainen's seat at McLaren.

Formula 1 drivers will have to adhere to a stricter definition of the 'one move' defensive rule from this weekend's Korean Grand Prix as part of a process that is likely to put it formally into the sporting regulations next year, AUTOSPORT can reveal.

There is currently no official definition in the rules about what constitutes a legitimate defensive move - with the matter currently only governed by Article 16.1 of the Sporting Regulations.

This article states that drivers can be punished for causing an 'incident' - which includes if he has "illegitimately prevented a legitimate overtaking manoeuvre by a driver."

Despite the 'one move' rule being mentioned in the rules, there is no proper definition of what it constitutes – and what a driver can do after he has used his single manoeuvre.

However, there is an unwritten rule that if a driver returns to the racing line after blocking the inside of a corner, he must leave enough space for his rival on the outside.

Although enforcement of the one move rule has worked for many years, the issue was thrust back into the spotlight at the Italian Grand Prix when Michael Schumacher vigorously defended his position against Lewis Hamilton.

Despite not being given a penalty for what some believed was driving that pushed the limits of the regulations, there were times when he was reminded by race control to leave enough space for Hamilton.

Following the Monza events, moves were made to re-examine the one move rule – and it has subsequently been approved by the FIA Sporting Working Group that it should become a part of the regulations.

With input from the Grand Prix Drivers' Association to put together a rule that the drivers are happy with, sources have confirmed that the one move rule will now be put forward for ratification by the FIA World Motor Sport Council so that it can be put into the 2012 F1 Sporting Regulations.

The wording will confirm that drivers can make one move to defend their position, and must then leave at least one full car's width of asphalt on the outside (which does not include the kerb) if they return to their racing line.

Even though this definition is not yet in the regulations, AUTOSPORT understands that the FIA will adopt this viewpoint as a benchmark from this weekend's event in Korea.
So there never was a one move rule???

This new definition is still too vague. Just make it simple, so one move is one move, and you can't go back to the racing line if you've moved to the wrong side of the track.

Lewis Hamilton has been handed a three-place grid penalty for Sunday's Indian Grand Prix, as has Sergio Perez.

Hamilton and Perez set their quickest laps right at the end of the first session of free practice with waved yellow flags displayed in the final sector of the lap.

It is the latest in a long line of run-ins between Hamilton and F1 race stewards in 2011 and will frustrate McLaren's hopes of taking the fight to Red Bull on the Buddh circuit. Hamilton scored the team's first pole position in 27 races at the last event in Korea.

The driver representative on this weekend's stewarding panel is Johnny Herbert.

so it seems like ferrari is fast on light fuel, while the others are faster with the heavier loads...

I dunno if I should change my pick to Webber. He finally had a good start the other race, but I kinda doubt he can pull it off again??

I'm no Hamilton lover but . . .

Webber has a very valid point in my opinion, especially the part about "where there's an incident someone must be to blame.

Mark Webber feels Formula One stewards are too quick to dish out penalties these days, saying many of the collisions are just "racing incidents".

The Australian's comments come in the wake of yet another on-track run-in between Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa. The Ferrari driver was slapped with a drive-through penalty in India on Sunday after they made contact. It was the sixth time that the duo have clashed this year with Hamilton getting a couple of penalties.

Webber believes the latest Massa-Hamilton incident was "50-50".

"You could argue all day about the rights and wrongs of the latest crash involving Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa but it was a 50-50 incident in my opinion," he wrote in his blog in the BBC Sport website.

"The corner they collided at is quite a quick one - fifth gear at about 135mph - so the brakes don't go on much. It's very difficult to pass there but Lewis got a good run off Turn Four and got down the inside of Felipe.

"It was the age-old thing. Lewis went for it, Felipe was still going to commit to the corner, then Lewis tried to back off and couldn't."

The Red Bull driver also lamented the amount of penalties that are dished out in the sport these days.

"F1 is getting into a bit of a road-car culture with penalties. The attitude seems to be that someone must be to blame when there is an incident," he wrote.

"In this case, the stewards thought Felipe could have given Lewis a bit more room and therefore handed him a drive-through penalty.

"Yes, Felipe could have made space for Lewis but, in my view, it wasn't clear-cut.

"The drivers have always said that they want the stewards to be consistent - and, to be fair, that's what they are trying to be.

"If someone's had an absolute howler, then fine, give them a penalty but sometimes it might be better just to say it was one of those things - what we call in F1 "a racing incident" - and let it go."

Don't agree with you Chief. I think the stewards have been consistent this year. There are racing incidents when they did give drivers a pass, but Massa and Hamilton's contact in India was squarly Massa's to blame. I think this is a case where Webber, who is a very aggresive driver, is afraid that he'll get a penalty sooner than later.
