Thumbs up F1 - Circuit of the Americas Thread

Got my tickets for F1: COTA GP.

Anyone else going? Tickets went on sale Sat and are already sold out, only GA left, maybe PSL's but I expect those to have been filled first. I heard hotel prices in the area are already $800

Majofo might have a few rooms available.

$500 + bacon

Yeah, I didn't know until I heard it from the news last night.. I was like Oh s#&%!

The best seats were taken already. I still got decent seats but not the ones I wanted.

You better believe people are reselling them. But at $350 / ea, expect to be paying at least 500 / ticket and ~2k for the main Grandstands.

GA still gets you access to grassy knolls to watch, but you better get your spot early and be ready to knock a bitch down to get there.

I'm a lil late on the thread but me and my friends are going. We got 7 general admission 3 day passes. I saw today they added 15,00 more tickets because they had sold out of the grand stand seating so fast.

So it's on? The local sports commentators keep talking as if it's not a done deal yet.

You had to use the link I posted up a while ago to get advance notice. I passed on going-way too much money for this race. I'll let things get settled down a year or two and then check it out. $800/room? That's fucking insane.

so, is that stay with your buddy in Austin as close as you'll get to the race since you don't have a ticket?

Some lucky GA tickets just got upgraded. A friend of mine was upgraded to stand seating at Turn 11.

I just checked Hotels[dot]com and there are officially no rooms available 11/16-11/18 out of the 200+ in the area from San Marcos to Round Rock.

Majofo still has room.

It's definitely on.. +300k people expected to come, 30% overseas, 80% out-of-state.

Maybe more visitors than SXSW.

Shit, that's not bad. I couldn't find anything on Hotels[dot]com

You better get tix soon! They just opened up that block of tickets. It was previously sold out.

WTF?!!! I'd rent a MTB and ride it there, chain it to a fence first before paying $220 to park for 3 days.

I'm guessing the neighborhood around the track will have parking. Probably $30-50

I'm coming too!
Can't wait!
Going with wife, cousin and either his gf or dad, not sure yet. We'll be in turn 12 upper section.

Where did you find a house to rent? I found 1 guy renting his bed n breakfast but it was $1000 per night, 5 night minimum. All I found available after making many calls was a super 8 at $340 a night per room.

Why is this in Moto news.. this isn't a news feed.

This is a ramblings feed for anyone going so we can help each other out, rant and shoot the shit. Nobody is going to see this here.

Petition to move back to Ramblings or at least Sports talk.

Anyways I'm so psyched.. traffic today wasn't bad.. It's like the quiet before the storm.

Friday looks to be medical at 830A and then test trials. I'm going to carpool with my buddy. He's bringing one son on Friday, the other on Sat, maybe a babe on Sunday..

Sadly, in the USA, on Monday morning, after the race, nobody will be talking about it at work, school, etc.....because F1 in the USA is like soccer.....nobody cares.

here's to hoping it grows in the US!

People that are fans of soccer still dont watch american soccer because overseas its much more fun to watch. And also fyi theres always lots of soccer chatter at least between my friends on fb.

F1 hopefully will grow in the US after some time.
