Ok, maybe it's the track, but I really like the mandated tire choices in qualy. That was real fun.

At first I thought it was a stupid idea but after they spoke about how many tires/year it would save building/hauling/mounting/discarding I was all in. So now the teams will be working on quali-sims with the hardest tire to get out of Q1 apparently.

347K tires or whatever? That’s a ridiculous amount of waste

Not the most exciting race, but a to RBR for the 12-peat.

A seat saving drive by Perez
A less than expected result for Danny Ric, but the L1/T1 contact likely didn't help.
Crazy that Ocon snapped his seat in half in that incident, I assume when the car came back to Earth after being launch off Gasly's back wheel.

I was hoping that DR could pull out a points finish, but to qualify Yuki, pick up damage in the L1 incident, and still finish ahead of his teammate - that's pretty impressive for his first week back on track.

I'm dumbfounded by Alpine's luck the past few races. Their cars seem to have good pace in practice, but they can never carry it over to Qualy, and then something happens to screw up their race. I feel bad for Gasly.

Not for Ocon though. Fuck that guy.

Yeah, 13th isn't bad, for being in a lower mid-pack car.
Considering all of the points were grabbed by the top 5 teams, the rest were just jockeying for position.

If you mean he won't be sacked by Monza, then sure. He's still out by the end of the year. A car as dominant as his should at a minimum finish P2. Not to mention his disaster in qualifying again.

Right, a podium finish should hold him through at least the summer break.
We'll see how SP & DR performs at Spa & Monza, and maybe have a better idea if a seat swap is pending.

No way in God's green Earth is Checo going to lose his seat halfway through the season when he's #2 on points and finished in the points in all but one race this year. He should be up higher but RBR is comfortably in the Constructor's Championship lead having more than double MBZ's points their nearest competitor (452 to 223).

True, but Max has enough points to carry the WCC alone.
Just parroting, a bit, some of the rumors that a few bad races by Perez could lead to a swap with DR, given DR is performing well in the AT.
