NO! I was on the preferred ticket buyer's list so I got a one day jump on tickets and everywhere I wanted to sit was sold out. Besides, I was supposed to get my knee operated on this past Thursday (total knee replacement) so we bagged the race. Then my surgery got postponed until 7/14. Grrrrrrrrr

Did you go Steve?

Nah, I didn't go. I definitely would have let you know if was going.

Damn, even with the preferred list everything was sold out for the good spots? I had a feeling demand would be nuts this year after the 2 yr hiatus and more fans because of drive to survive popularity etc.

A knee replacement? Goodness, that doesn't sound fun. Hope that all goes smoothly. Will you lose your spot at that hotel?

Thanks bud, it'll be fine I'm sure. Everyone I speak with who had it done (all skiers) say they should've done it sooner. I didn't lose my spot at the Auberge Bonaparte, Manager Anne-Marie has kept me apprised and on the list.

A few highlights to the race, but overall a bit of a procession.

Yep. The last 15ish laps were somewhat exciting. I'm just happy for Hamilton to get on the podium.

Alonso was the benefactor of fortunate qualifying runs and incredible car control. The Alpine is not going to win an outright race unless there's a blood bath of retirements with MBZ, RBR and FER up front.

I wonder if the race ended up being just as wet as qualis if ALO would have been able to retain his track position. Very early on, he mentioned over the radio that he was not in the race with Sainz/Verstappen and looking to race Hamilton.

I also think Alpine's decision to not take advantage of the safety cars hurt his case as well.
