Let's see how many people miss the deadline this week.

I predict five.

Because you've made qualifying for the sprint race qualifying for the qualifying for Sunday's race

Well, I view today's qualifying as the real qualifying. The sprint race in my opinion is the start of the race. This is akin to a race where they red flag it after 12 laps due to a safety incident, and then restarting it from the grid.

The rules were published awhile ago.

Definitely tougher to pick off of just 1 hour of running. Curious how many team will actually run in FP2 tomorrow morning before the sprint.
FP1
Quali
FP2
Sprint Quali
Race

An odd schedule for sure. Wonder how many will 'tiptoe'/not go 100% through the sprint to avoid damage to be repaired before the race.

F1 calls Qualifying tomorrow, not today. Qualifying today was for the sprint not the race. The Sprint is the qualifying session for the race.

I think it's a terminology issue - I understand "sprint race qualifying" as qualifying, which occured this afternoon. "Sprint qualifying" is tomorrow. The second half of the rule spells it out - "the deadline for submitting picks will be prior to the sprint race qualifying, not prior to the sprint race itself".

There's a a bit of ambiguity, I agree. But the announcers for the broadcast during P1 and qualifying referred to the session this afternoon as "sprint race qualifying" and "qualifying for the sprint race". I vaguely remember the discussion prior to the start of the season where we agree to the rule and having picks in before Fridays session where sprint races would occur.

@F-C - even though I agree with the rules as written, since this is the first weekend with this format, what do you think about leaving picks open for everyone until the start of the sprint race tomorrow - just for this weekend. Future sprint weekends can close before Fridays session, as written.

I see that Chief didn't get his pick in, and I think we may be missing 1 or 2 others. I just want to keep the season competitive, and dont want people to miss picks based on a technicality.

Also, during Q1, they did mention that Pole position is not awarded by the Sprint Quali today, but by the results of the Sprint Race tomorrow.

Well, the problem with that is people who made their picks already would be at a disadvantage.
The whole point of making the picks is to make them before the field is set. For the most part, the field is now set. Unless there is a major incident at the first corner that takes out half of the leaders.

I meant open up picks for everyone, not just those that missed the deadline.

I personally don't care that much, so let's do this.

Picks are open again, until 11:30am Saturday, prior to the start of the sprint race. So anyone want to make a fresh pick, you've got a second chance.

HOWEVER, if someone objects, reply here or through a PM to me. Some people ignore this forum on the weekend, so it's not fair for them for following the rules, but don't benefit from this adjustment. If no one objects by end of Monday, July 19, the new picks will be accepted. If anyone objects, I will revert back to the original picks (or missed picks).

I'm good with the revision, despite the potential of picking up some places from the missed picks.
Thanks for running things F-C

Well . . . . that was interesting. Victory Lap interview was a nice touch too.

Even though it would've totally fuxored my pick, I was praying for Leclerc to hang on for the win. Whatta race!

Same.

I'm a bit annoyed that the eventual winner didn't get a 10s stop-go. I think the standard 10s penalty was a bit lenient.

Karun Chandok does a great analysis of the Copse crash between Lewis and Max.
