that's all crap-let's face it, there aren't viable winners available to pick at this point having used up the best 4 drivers and teams already. Right now it's a crap shoot.

 

It is possible, just very unlikely to happen.

Would probably take something like the 1996 Monaco Grand Prix. An improbable win by Panis, and only three cars finishing the race. In that scenario, if Tommy picked Panis, and Chief didn't pick Panis, then it's conceivable that Tommy would get enough points to win the championship.

So yeah, 1% chance of pulling this off.

 

There's a pretty high chance of VER and HAM crashing out. They're using the softest tire compounds, and there's some minor concern about kerbs causing tire failure here. Gasly has been driving his ass off this season, Ocon and Ricciardo have each won one this year, with Norris coming very close. Poor tire strategy, luck with red flag or safety cars, it's a crap shoot and long shot but it's still very possible for someone out of the top 4 to win. I'd at least like to have a shot even if it's 1%. F-C I'll pm you my pick after tomorrow's FP2.

 

With the softest compounds, I'm guessing maybe a 2 stop race.
With the warning on points deductions for crashing out your opponent, I expect some hard racing, but nothing deliberate.

I picked ocon/alpine by PM. If that's not okay I don't care, this isn't that important and I'm probably gonna lose anyway.

Alternatively I'd be fine keeping Gasly and AT from my original pick. Mazepin was obviously not intended to be my pick lol.

 

And this is why in the past I've said we should just follow the rules and don't bend/make exceptions unless everyone is on board (which can be hard to do if you're not checking the sub all the time). Or just never do it period unless there's some big oversight. Then there's no need to audit or worry about bent rules etc. I've been burned in the past when exceptions were made for some in one Instance, but not for me (not that I asked,) in similar circumstances. I just accepted I ran afoul of a deadline or whatever, or asked the group if something was ok or not to allow. Pretty sure it cost me winning one year too.

I have regularly gotten up early to make last minute/second picks so I couldn't be copied if I was in contention for winning in the past. I've always been aware someone might try to copy me when we're down to the wire. I think and I did that last race of last year when we were neck and neck in points. That's how it's always gone in this pool. I mean it's all for fun etc, so it doesn't really matter, but allowing pm picks without checking with everyone first (or whoever it might affect at the least) instead of the in thread picks like it's always been seems a bit unfair? I dunno. I'm not the FIA/Masi/stewards (ie F-C ).

In any event, nothing to do with me this year, and it's all for fun anyway. So whatever.
