What do you due with your coins
For the last few years all my coins have gone in a bag.
I hate to take it to coin star and pay the 7% commision, as I am sure there is over $500 in coins.
Anyone have a good and easy way to roll, I thought I would use it as a game for my daughter, to learn the differn't coins and counting.

I used to do pretty much the same thing - The quarters were used for laundry the rest get thrown in a bag. Still use the quarters for laundry, but got a cheepo coin wrapper. We roll up the coins until we have something worth depositing - so we've only done it once so far in two years

Some banks will do it for free.
If you shop at Amazon find a Coinstar machine that will give you an Amazon gift card. They won't charge you their fee if you do that. I guess Amazon gives them a kickback.

I roll them monthly and deposit them into my Savings account when I hit up the bank to make my car payment on top of my usual $50 deposit.
Using this menthod I saved up enough to pay for my trip to Vegas and all my Argentina spending money.

My bank doesnt charge... i just feel silly waiting in line with a bag of change.
Its actually how I used to mod my car when i was 17. I would run around the house and collect all the loose coin. Almost everytime came to at least $300

I haven't used a coin to pay for anything since I was 16, I typically pay for everything with cash so I get a lot of change in a day of shopping. I have a 30 gallon drum in my room with a coin slot in the top of it and just dump my change in there after everyday. Right now I can't even tip it, it weighs so much. I have no clue what I am going to do with it when its full, let alone how I am going to move it. There has got to be 300lbs+ of change in the drum.

^^Haha i know someone that did that. Somehow they got it to the bank and it was a couple grand worth of change I think.
Myself, I just keep some in my coats or car and try to get rid of it as much as possible. Works the same either way I guess.

^ If you choose to get a giftcard from Coinstar, they waive the fee.
Starbucks, Amazon, Pier1, Borders, Linens N' Things.
I don't spend anything smaller than a $5. All $1 bills and coins go into a jar, where I redeem them for amazon.com certificates, and use to buy gear for my photography habit.
Last year I dumped out my jar, after 18 months collecting, I had almost $800...paid for my half of a weeklong all inclusive resort stay in Cabo.

I miss my 03 CL-S :(
Both my banks have machines that they don't charge fees for. Check with yours.
Those coinstar things are a ripoff. Who in their right minds would pay to give ppl money? It's like reverse interest.

I guess I'm one of the few people who developed a system to get rid of my pennies without having to carry exact change. The key is to carry four pennies with you wherever you and maybe a few other nickels and dimes if you have any left. As long as you carry just four pennies with you, you will never ever have to receive a single penny back as change. It works best if you round off the amount you pay so that the only change you get back is in the form of bills or quarters as the very smallest denomination.

now, i just save up coins in a jar and just take it to the coinstar at the local randall's. the % they take sucks, but it's quick and convenient.
