Hey, I just got invited to a closed beta of www.theupdown.com and wanted to see if anyone else was interested in checkin it out. Its a mock portfolio/stock picking community where you can make money 3 ways: 1. If you can beat the s&p500, you make some money. 2. You can also submit stock pick recommendations/analysis and the top picks get money each week too. 3. Refer friends and you get 10% of their earnings too. I think they have the goal of eventually starting a hedge fund based on top rated picks and user portfolio top performers. I believe they were in the WSJ sometime ago, i'll try to find the article


basically, it's simple and i think its a good idea. Make a mock portfolio (or just enter your real portfolio trades like i'm doing) and try to beat the s&p500 to earn some cash. write up stock pick analysis to make cash too and you can rate other members' picks. don't get me wrong it's not massive amounts of money or anything seeing as its still in closed beta invite only, but they've got venture capital backing. top earner so far has earned $70. I'm not affiliated with that site in anyway, so if this is in violation of forum "sponsorship" or whatever mods just let me know, just thought it was a cool idea.

It's just like other mock portfolio sites, except you can actually make some side money. It's as simple as that, no catches or anything. I messaged one of the creators to find out all the info, so if you got any questions I'll try to answer them, but I just got logged in and scoped everything out so I'm still figuring it out myself.

just a note...if you dont think you can beat the s&p, or have a history of not beating the s&p...then dont bother trying, just buy the s&p

BTW, neat website. I sent them an email applying to be a beta user & they replied back letting me in. I'll look more at the site tonight.

but yea, buying the s&p would be easier, but this is at least worth a try to beat it... mock portfolio or put in your actual portfolio, take your pick. worth a shot at the very least, free to try

no one interested in this beta at all?

i've been on the site 5 days and just made $20 this week. i wrote 2 stock picks/analysis (2 paragraphs each) and it took 10 mins... they were picked top analysis of the week (looks like 10 picks a week get chosen) got paid 10 bucks for each one. easy cash. PLUS you get paid on monthly basis if your portfolio beats the s&p500.

i'm not affiliated with this site and its EASY MONEY, just got paid today via paypal. i'm just sayin i know there's some investment savvy people on here and its worth your time to make a portfolio or write some picks. just do it once a week that's all i'm doing...

k bumping this for the last time.

over the past month i've now made $140 from that site just by simply writing down a quick analysis of the stocks I invest in for my real money portfolio... ridiculously easy money. I'm taking that 140 and just applying it to my real money portfolio. Just got myself 7 free shares of EMC

i used stocktrak heres how i did
it was good while it lasted =)
Each student started with 1MM suprising enough in my class 35:43 students finished with positive results!!
375k in 3 months not too shabby..lol.. to bad this was a game =\
i need a margin account badly!!!!!! at least now while im still young!

zecco.com...free trades, not the best platform but its free...ive been with scottrade, they were decent, and also Tradestation, they were good, but i dont trade as much as i thought i would. now im at zecco and scottrade, and im gonna love free trading.
