Well, I liquidated the rest of my shares this morning. Realized a gain of $200K in the past 2.5 years on an initial investment of $185K. Not too shabby.

Tesla is in big trouble in China.

Model 3 owners in China started to notice two weeks ago that their cars were equipped with an older generation of computer chip, despite being told that the cars would come with the newest chip installed. The news sparked outrage, and Tesla confirmed that it had shipped Model 3s with the old chip.

The company said it had had to ship cars with the outdated chip because the novel coronavirus outbreak had disrupted its supply chain. The company was ordered by the government to shut down its Shanghai Gigafactory at the end of January as part of containment measures, and it re-opened on February 10.

Nikkei Asian Review reports Tesla executives were summoned to explain themselves before China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Tuesday, where they were told to fix the problem.

"The ministry has ordered Tesla to immediately rectify the problem according to related regulations," the ministry said in a statement on Tuesday, per Nikkei.

Their stock is down 10% on the day. I have no idea what the dude is thinking/on, but his twitter feed over the past few hours has been full of...confusion?

I wonder if the SEC will go after him for that.

I actually sold all my shares a few weeks ago expecting it get cheaper and buy back in. Then it gained 20% in the 2 days after I sold.

i agree the stock is crazy high right now, 3 of their 4 plants are shutdown, along with most of their suppliers, 30 million jobs lost in the last month or so. IDK how many people are buying a Tesla right now even if they have a pre order. Maybe the Tesla fanboys will still buy one now IDK.

they got 8 billion in cash so they’ll be fine financially but I think things will start getting delayed and sales will suffer, and I don’t think it will end anytime soon.

$800 is a little ridiculous for this economy and this high level of uncertainty

and he should STFU about covid. I was very disappointed to see him retweet something from James O’Keefe. Wtf bro

I haven't really dove into it, but didn't the Tesla-SEC agreement after the last issue result in any tweet from him about Tesla being reviewed by a Tesla lawyer? Wonder if a) that happened or b) if the SEC will go after him again if it didn't.

I'm also curious how it plays into his stock bonus if they meet sales targets. I had read last week that he could buy over a million shares at somewhere around $350/share. If the price goes lower, does his purchase price drop as well?

And yeah, I nearly dumped about $7k into Tesla when it was in the $380 range a few weeks ago. I was nervous about it though as it seemed way too high at $700+, and I thought it wouldn't go that high again. Yet...it jumped right back up there

I kept the shares I bought in the mid threes, but sold the ones I bought in the low sevens as soon as it rose above my purchase price. I set an alert at $500. This is not my investment money, It is play money that I can lose if it comes to that.
