Well, I think I'm really screwed. I am in the Navy and I went to go print my W-2 off our web site and for some reason it cam eup blank in the Fed Tax blocks, wages etc. I emailed them and said there is a mistake in my W-2 its blank. They wrote me back and said I was in a Tax free Zone. I returned from Operation Enduring Freedom in April 2002. During that time I was not being taxed federally because I was in Combat(searching in those caves looking for Osama) When I filed last year i never noticed that they only taked me for 4 months. So what I'm getting at I haven't paid Federal Taxes since April 02. I never noticed, I get money for living in Illinois, but I'm not in Combat here in Great Lakes. How much jail time am I looking at? It was the Navy's fault but I never caught it. So how do I file? I usually get back everything I put in every year. But who knows now. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

 

No jail time, but expect to get a sizeable bill from the IRS in the not so distant future. If it were me, I'd contact the IRS and arrange to make payments. They charge interest on the money owed, so the longer you wait, the more $$$ you're gonna owe.

 

They should take care of you, damnit. Ask the President to take it out of his deep pockets. You did your job for the Country -- and it'd be nice if they let it slide. I wish they would.

Hey, you'll be fine. Did you try printing through myPay? Contact your financial office or PAD. If worse comes to worse, contact JAG, they can help you, I had a friend in the same situation.
