Microsoft Money 2006??

Is it any good? I got a free copy with my new notebook and I was thinking about using it. I have heard lots of annoying things about it though. I just wanted to see if anyone used it. If it sucks that bad what are other softwares you use?

I use Money 2005 and like it. 2006 is probably good. Go ahead and use it.

The only thing that pissed me off about Money/Quicken is that in reality the only reason you need to upgrade is because they stop getting bank/stock updates in 2 years. If I didn't need the updates I would probably still be running Quicken 98.

How much is the software?

I was just going to use Excel. All I really need is a basic budget with budgeted vs actual and a way to keep track of my roomate's payment.

I could probably whip up something decent in Excel in 20-30 minutes, but common expenses probably will be rounded off...ie: food, gas and extras.

Worth it for me?

2006 Premium can be had for $34 after rebate at Amazon.
They have Standard for $29. You can usually get Money Standard bundled for free with other applications, like TaxCut. I've never used anything higher than Standard.

I'm an Excel guy myself. I do it mainly to stay organized and to make sure I don't forget to pay a bill or something. I'm sure down the road as things get more complicated I'll move to Money or Quicken.

But CK, if it's free, why not use it?

I have something that i use in excel, but Id like something more that takes account of my bank information since i have money in a few accounts. I also have that little side job that I want to help keep track of earnings and stuff so taxes next year will be a little easier. I will be trying it out only bc it was free (well i prolly paid for it with my computer). I'll let you guys know how i like it.
