Massive New Home Community in Bay Area: San Ramon 6000 Brand New homes
Has anyone heard of the massive development in bay area called Wyndamere in San Ramon?
There are 4000 homes being built by Wyndamere, and a few more by Centax
Some are cheap...starting at 600, some are going way past a million..
http://www.visitwindemere.com/index.html
There are builders and developers from all over doing this joint "city"
Yes they are truely building a city..there will be over 20000 people in the area, as a nearby development has 3000 homes!
It includes: Elementry, Jr High, HS, Junior college, Police, Fire, Library Community center, shopping area, etc... Rolling hills, trails, horseback trails, baseball fields, etc
all 60 minutes from SF (no traffic) or you can take Bart from Walnut Creek, or Dublin/Pleasanton.
I went over there just to see what its about..its pretty amazing.
They said its going to take 15 years to build
What do you all think? Has anyone seen this before?
HOW TO GET THERE

Retired playa
500k in the most upscale areas of Atlanta gets you a nice 3000 sq ft. townhouse or small house. Not a 2 car garage... And silicon valley (Palo Alto) area I heard is just as bad... where its actually more cost effective to rent, rather than buy.

People are SOOO desperate around here for homes, they have to hold lotteries so you can just get the change to bid the house up....
Some homes have been bid 100k up in the area.
in the community i live, people SLEPT OUTSIDE the office to get a chance on the homes to bid.

you guys pay WAY too much for status
Anywho, thats crazy, will people really flock and fill up that many houses for that much money? Maybe I am just used to Tampa because around here nicer gated communities start in the $200,000 range.

What status? these are just normal homes 3 bed or 4 bed, 2000-3000 sw feet...nothing fancy, no gated community... This is a middle class community
Now, if were talking status, we would be talking about Pacific Heights SF, Marin, Napa, Blackhawk, Campbell, Saratoga, Carmel, etc

You're correct on the cost of living and wages stuff!
It comes out pretty even, as salaries in Nor Cal are much higher than national average, translating to higher cost of living (as people flock to area for salaries)
So, for now, its almost even, but this trend can't continue forever...unless salaries continue to inflate with it...
(any econ majors out there)

On a related note, my friend just bought a condo in FT myers area, she said it has increased 200k in just two years...FL may be a hot bed for investing...
perhaps it will ballon up like bay area, as the 40% of the baby boomer population (yes they are 40% of our nation) is about to retire, but on some bahamma shorts and move to FL.

yeah a guy in my speech class bought a 2 bedroom condo for $38k and sold it after 9/11 for $78k. Now he owns a 9 resident building he only pays $550/month and is having a house built at 22. While I am saving my money like a CHUMP!
My parents own 6 on the side of their real job. So basically I am saving up and buying a townhouse and renting it out because thats what most people do down here since shit is so cheap.
