Feedback: Not Quite Exotic Tours

Hey Guys,
I am close to finalizing plans to start a new company that will specialize in driving tours like many have seen with exotic cars with a twist, given the down economy, I think there are a group of enthusiasts a little less well heeled than those paying $1000-$1500 to drive exotics that woul dpay $500 to drive 5 sub-exotic sports cars like a Z06, Porsche 911, AMG SLK 55, Lotus Elise and a Porsche Cayman.

I have access to great twisty canyon roads and plan to run 4-5 hours with stops for changing cars and a noce lunch.

Interested to see the response from fellow Acura enthusiasts!

Be honest.

Dave

where's your business plan?
Have you thoroughly worked out the financials?
What's your marketing plan?

Yes I have a solid plan and financials. Marketing will be mostly enthusiast forums like these where we will be official sponsors. I was primarily looking for opinions of the concept to see if people here would consider that type of a tour with those type of cars over the much pricier exotics.

Yes but the difference being, we charge half the price as our cars wont be quite as exotic. That market is slowing big time. We are targeting guys who already own Acura, Infinitis and BMW 3 series that want to try out 70-100k sports cars.

Personally my current plans include keeping my car at least as long as you have had yours. No plans for upgrading or dream drives in immediate future. There are many more important financial issues at this time for me.

Best of luck with the new business however.

I have access to great twisty canyon roads...
I hope those are private canyon roads rather than public roads, because others will be put in danger if a participant drives beyond his ability.

FWIW, I wouldn't participate in such a driving experience unless it was on a race track or private roads-- my interest in driving and comparing those cars would be focused on what they can do at speed. Otherwise, I can just run down to Downtown LA Motors or Porsche of Downtown LA to test drive the SLK55 or Cayman (neither car fit my needs, which is for a four-seater with trunk space to carry 3 or 4 bankers' boxes ).

What he said. I am exactly in your target group, since these are the type of cars I would like to buy next, However, I can go to the dealership and test drive one on local roads for nothing. In fact, a lot of places will now let you take the car home for the weekend to see how you like it.

I think you really need to have some track time in there to make it viable.

Heck, I'd spend $500 bucks to tear around for a half day on some canyon roads if there were any canyon roads around here. I plan to do the World Class Driving, just haven't found the time to do it yet.
