Drag Track
Drag Track
Anyone think I could make money opening up a new drag track in CT? We've lost all of ours, and I think it would have a good customer base. And get street racers off the road, including myself..
I think the financial side would only be half the worries of setting up something like you envision. I would assume that lots of environmental studies and public hearings would be involved. Lastly, I would think that you would have to assess the likelihood of future residential development around the track. It never fails that people end up building houses around a race track and then bitch about the crowds and noise.
Here's the home page for NHRA Division 1 (Northeast). The director's contact info is there if you ever get serious.

I'm 17, so this isn't anything coming soon. But as I try and figure out what I will do with my life this is a passing thought. I may look into it once I hit college, maybe I can make a project out of the research...
I see, sounds good.
Another thing that may be worth thinking about is that you won't be able to do this for years. Will someone else do it before then? Could you help them out? Will there be a demand for it in 5+ years?
