Credit Card recommendations?

I've recently closed my HELOC since I refinanced, and I feel like I should open another credit line. I only have one other CC which I use only in emergencies. It's a basic credit union CC and it gives me no cash back or points/miles.

I'm looking for something that's got either a low or no annual fee and reasonable perks in terms of miles. I got an AmEx mailing the other day with piqued my interest in their Gold card. Any feedback on their cards? Is there a better card out there? Anything that's airline-agnostic?

I use my debit card for everything right now, but if something can give me something like double miles for gas, groceries and stuff like that, it could save me $ on travel and I'd use it instead.

I recently started using an Amex Blue Cash as my primary CC. I do run into the occasional place that won't take it so I keep a mastercard as backup.

always been a fan of discover, cash back on everything!

i think citibank has some sort of cash back card (either visa or mc) as well if you need it to be accepted everywhere...

American Express must have 100 different cards all with different terms. Take a look on their site. I have one called Simply Cash for business. Nice cash back for gas, cell phone and everything else. No fee, no minimum; cash back is deducted from your next months bill.

AMEX Blue Cash I hear is pretty good (I have AMEX blue travel). Also, I know if you spend enough, their green/gold/platinum cards can pay off. Just remember, those aren't credit cards though.

That's probably the next card I get...

I had a card canceled due to lack of use, and I don't get anything from my BOA card (MBNA originally, but boa bought them out).

I don't know, but I've always seen cash-back cards as a bit of a gimmick. Looking at the Amex Blue Cash, it seems you have to spend 6,500/yr on the card to get the 5% cash back - that's not happening with me.

I guess travel/miles rewards are more of a draw for me than cash back.

The Credit Card APR Games thread had a card recommendation for cash back:

The Capitol One No Hassle MilesSM Ultra Credit Card for Professionals card seems to be a good deal - $40/yr and you get 2mi for every $1. Miles are redeemed as cost of ticket*100. Plus perks comparable to AmEx in terms of travel insurance, concierge, roadside assist, etc.

I may give that one a shot... No interest for a year doesn't hurt although I always pay off at the end of the month.

They can't even hold a candle to AMEX's customer service though. I had a Capitol One for about 4 months before I closed it due to service/customer service.

After having my AMEX, I don't think I'll ever use anything else as my primary.

I have an Amex and its alright. I have my auto insurance set to hit it automatically every month and I use it for a few other light items. Nothing big though. Just cashed in for $150 in Bed Bath & Beyond gift cards (I'm moving, and I'm going to need new cookware.) That was from about a year of use, maybe a little while more. I also have a Citi Professional Card. Interest rate isn't the best, but the rewards are pretty decent. I got no interest for a year and $100 in bonus rewards. I only accrued $25 more though throughout the course of the last year and a half though. To be fair, I hardly used it. I'm kinda against credit cards except for emergencies, though lately I've been getting in the habit of paying my bills with them and then paying them off every month to get the points.

I have both discover and chase visa-I rarely use either but since alot of places do not take discover or Amex I have visa for back-up.
