Good Car Wash in KC???
Howdy, folks,
I'm going to be the first to admit that I've been spoiled. My dad works for the electric company and they have numerous fleet vehicles. Such a fleet has a wash bay on site at the electric company's office. This wash bay has a Hotsy power washer with heater that has knocked the socks off even the nastiest asphalt tar, mud, salt, break dust and bug guts.
I'm looking for a MANUAL car wash in the KC area that has a similar setup, with hot water and high pressure. I'm in Lenexa, but the car washes I have been to (80% are gas stations, probably the first problem) haven't been up to par, either with mediocre pressure, no hot water or consistent break-downs, hose leaks, etc. Are there any car washes in the area that have a hot-water wash option with good pressure?
I dunno, maybe kind of an odd thread, but I'm just tired of washing my car and still have bird crap and salt on it. It's a little annoying.
Thanks!

I may not be the best at car washes around that area, but there are a few up north by me that I tend to frequent that are good enough for me. If my car is dirty enough (which it hardly ever is) I swing by the wand wash and rinse the majority of the gunk off and come back home and do the 2 bucket method with ONR.
Take a look around the Wash and Wax subsection for some great links for products/tips.

Sup, dude!
I'll be there!
I figured that I would immediately get a reply about a bucket washing. I guess I should surrender to the fact that that is about the only way to do it right, but it seems as though every time I try to wash my car at home it turns into an afternoon ordeal and not the quick 15-20 minute exercise that the Hotsy is. Again, spoiled.

I'll check the thread out... hadn't been to that side of the forum.
See you soon!

I have my time down to about 45 min if I'm only doing the outside, and that is cleaning the wheels, exhaust tips, and doing a quick spray wax. It would be a lot faster if I had hose access, which I don't because I live in an apartment.

Gary, there's a decent car wash in Lenexa! It's a 1/2 block south of 87th Street & Quivira. It's right behind the Taco Bell, which sits almost next to Zarda.
Maybe I was just there on an "off" day. That was the one that had several broken-down wash bays and the one that was working was dripping rust water on top of me while I was trying to wash her!

Yea, like I said-it's decent.
There is a VERY nice wash at 63rd (Shawnee Mission Parkway) & Neiman Road.
Or, an excellent one at 123rd & Antioch (behind the Post Office).

The best stick/wand car wash I have seen in this area is off of 79th street, use the side access road between 67th and 75th (runs parallel with I-35), it is called Stubby's Dog & Car Wash. (Close to the Acura dealership there).
I always hose the brush thoroughly to get anything that might add to the damage of the brushes. But they also have to two auto bays, one is touchless and does a decent job as long as your car is not too dirty.
But good luck finding a hot wash. If you do find, please tell!

I visited the one at 63rd and Neiman. I was very pleased! Thanks for the recommendation, Steve.
I may have to check out Stubby's the next time. Dog and car wash? I've never heard of such a thing...

+1 for Olympic on 63rd and Nieman. Only place I wash my car nowadays. I've tried the pne behind Zarda and Taco Hell and wasn't too impressed myself, but maybe it was an "off" day. I've never used the dog & car wash on 75th, even though I used to live in the apartment complexes next to it lol...
