Where to learn to drive stick

Where can I learn to drive stick in the DMV area? Anyone willing to teach me with some compensation? I have absolutely no good connections with anyone with a stick car (i live in dc, most people drive auto because dc traffic)

Kind of need to learn ASAP because I'm looking to get a car in the next 2 weeks.

Thanks

I dont think you'd find very many people willing to let you drive their manual vehicles with little experience short of replacing their clutch when you're done LOL.

You may want to look into a driving school that will give you lessons on one of their manual cars. they should be able to take you for a day if you compnesate them fairly

EDIT: here you go http://www.idrivesmart.com/programs_manual.cfm

I had bought my first car (Mitsubishi Starion Turbo) at 16 w/o knowing how to drive stick..
I just would drive forward and reverse in my driveway for a bit until I got the hang of it.....then that was it....off I went.

Just go to a few dealerships and test drive different cars. They won't say anything til you stall it a few times.

^this.

that's exactly what i did. went a bunch of dealerships one weekend and just ran through a bunch of different manual cars to get a feel for it. after a few attempts you'll get it down pretty quickly. hope you like doing 6 things at once!

I hadn't driven stick in years and test drove a stick TL. The dude was like okay if you stall this one more time that's it after 3 or 4 times lol. Part of me wishes i bought it for the hell of it but I sit in enough traffic so 5AT it was.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I don't know why I didn't think of Craigslist. Already found a person, only $30/hour

LOL this is what I did when I bought a new 99 Subie Outback Sport 5MT. I was going back and forth in my girlfriend's parents driveway for like 3 hours until I was able to drive it home. My girlfriend's dad actually drove it back from the dealership.
