Lancaster/Harrisburg/York anyone?

I just wanted to see who's all around my area, my wife and I live off the New Holland Avenue exit of RT. 30. I've seen some sharp TL's driving around, figured I'd get a few bites here.

Speak up!

I'm not really sure yet. I've always gotten a safe 35% all around but really want to go down to 20%. I was thinking either 35% entirely, 20% on the back windshield/35% on the sides or 20% all around.

I've taken about 8 cars to this place, they do a terrific job. They're about 200 with tax for a 4 door.

I'm in Dover a lot, which part of town are you in?

I am on the east end of work but work at that new sheetz on 30 by the 83 over pass. Cops don't bother you with 35%? could you post a pic of how dark that is and what it looks like then after it's done?

Oh ok, I pass by there a lot living in Lancaster and working up 83 a few exits from the 30/83 area.

I've never had a problem with 35% and I've had quite a few cars done that way for a considerable amount of time.

If you have tan interior 35% leaves a little darkness to be desired which is why I'm considering 20%.

I'm at 35%. That's considered legal in MD, where I do most of my driving.
Its nice, but I would do 20% if I had it to do over. I would also do the windshield, if it weren't for the inspection stickers...dead giveaway if they can't see them. I'm seeing more and more cars with windshield tint--I think it looks great.

keep in mind that with a black interior the tint will appear darker. i'm in VA, our laws say 50 front and 35 back. i stayed legal with the TL...it looks darker than it is up front. i would have probably gotten 35 all around, but county and state police...they profile and will stop you for tint only in my area.

just depends on how strict the cops are in your area about the tint. the PA tint laws...pretty much don't allow anything (70%). no state allows windshield tint. 50% will be really light...just FYI. 35% is just dark enough to give the effect you want, but light enough to make the cops feel a little less uneasy about stopping you (ie they can still see shadows of people in the car).

No one would have a pic of 50% would they? And by make them alittle less uneasy what do you mean? That they would be more inclined to pull me over? Check out my 2 pics of my Si this is how dark I want my tl what % do uou think this is? Cops never bothered me with this tint.

That looks darker than 35% to me.
BTW, I have the Quartz Gray interior. Black will definitely make it look darker.
Make sure the shop you choose does the entire rear quarter window. Some places will tell you they can't get tint on the full window---bullshit.

^^agree. looks like 20% on the civic.

the "uneasy" part...cops like to be able to see heads in windows of cars...they dont' need any surprises when making a traffic stop. hence limo tint is not really legal in most places. its seems the younger (this is relative of course--i'm referring to the 20 somethings) that like dark <35%. us older folks...go for a happy medium of not super dark, but not super light...35%.

if the cops didnt' bother you with the tint on your civic...then do whatever and you should be fine (keep in mind i have no point of reference on enforcement in your part of the world). here in the commonwealth...aftermarket exhaust that is too loud= tix...tint too dark= tix...cop in bad mood...he'll find something i'm sure. thankfully i have not had the luxury of being pulled over by VA finest, however i have friends that have.

i personally like 35%. still allows you to see out at night.

OP cAlled your tint place seem to be a good place. They said you were in when I called ha. So any pics? You did 35% right? Their price is fair. 190$ for 4 windows and rear windshield.

Haha, she said another TL guy called asking about pricing. lol

That's just funny bc I was there when you called. I posted some if you want to check them out.

The price is a bit higher than the average but it's quality work from a solid company that's been around since 1987.

hey ohsixMTee, I live in East petersburg right off of manheim pike. hard to miss my car (black on black 06 TL).

As for tint laws...I currently have 20% tint all around (except windshield, I just have a bar on the top), The PA LAW is that you cant have any less than 70% sun exposure, but then in the same law, they say that it is up to the County that you are in, and each county has its own tint laws if that makes any sense.

For instance, In East petersburg, I've been stopped twice for the 4 years i've been living here. Once for speeding (27 in a 25 :p) and one to warn me about speeding. Each time the police officer came around to asking for the tint specs, I tell him the truth, 20% all around and he said something like "ok just wondering". But in New Holland, if you have anything darker than 40% in your front windows, you will be pulled over and made to take off the tint or pay a fine.

Its all about where you live in PA since the state law on tint isn't very clear.

and as far as reccomending someone to do your tint for you...I've had Travis Yohe do mine for a couple of my rides...Costs 140$ and he comes to you..

There's a place on the left heading 30E past the outlets that sort of looks like a truck stop that has amazing pancakes.

I'm 200 lbs. and can only eat one of those bad boys....yet everytime I go I try for two. lol

Stay out of York Township if you tint. I had 35% and the local Evil Kinevil on a mission almost snapped his neck after he rolled thru the intersection and noticed my car. No fine, but got a remove it citation.

Being from York I hear ya. Getting stopped for tint really depends on how the cop is feeling that day, I haven't had issues with West Manchester or Northern York Regional but I have heard that Eastern York cops are strict with it.

I've always had 35% and never had a problem though, just depends on the cop at that particular time and what else you are doing wrong I suppose.
