We'll I'm getting my windows tinted within the next few days. What I want to know is what percent tint do you have? And have you been hassled by the po po lol because of it. I was thinking of going 30-35%. And I really don't feel like putting out the money to be told by the man to take it off. Any help is appreciated.

I have 20% on 2 cars and 30% my wife's, no issues. It's really gonna be luck of the draw, if you get stopped just don't be a dick to the cop and unless they're money hungry they'll let you slide. What shop are you going with? I had a car tinted years ago at Shades of Gray and it still looks great. Had my wife's car done at 215 Motoring, it's okay but cheaper film definitely. Both are lifetime warranty tho.

I have Black interior so it makes the tint a lot darker.
Hard for me to see when I back out of the driveway too.

Which is basically plain glass. The way the actual law is written is that you still need to be able to see through the window, but the DMV's guidelines are 70% so that's pretty much what's enforced. Plenty of tinted cars around me though.

there is this
http://www.dmv.state.pa.us/pdotforms...ets/fs-sun.pdf

now here is the gray area..."cited while operating the vehicle on the highway" .. so local areas you can fight it

also there is a case in PA that went to state superior court and they overturned a tint citation in favor of the citizen

talking to cop friends and other folks pulled over for tint.. all the cops care about is being able to see into the car.. so if you get limo tint or something so dark a cop cant see you during a stop then expect to be hassled and cited

I am rocking 35%.. I did in my old car too.. I had buddies with 25% and even 20% .. as long as you dont do anything stupid while driving then you will be fine... or if you are concnered open your sunroof to allow more light into your car... i do that when I drive by cops just in case

If they do stop you, just turn on your interior lights or open your windows so he can see in. He will probably appreciate that and won't hassle you about it.

Im in Delaware County and I have 15%. I've had 20-15% on every car I have owned. Only problem I ever had was with a State Trooper on 95. He only gave me a warning and said I didn't have to remove it. Also, go with Shades of Gray.

Yeah State Troopers are probably the only ones that will pull you over for that. Come to think of it, it was a State Trooper who pull me over for no front plate (Texas ), but got off with a warning.

You in PA too? I have 15% and I've had no problems. I ride from West Philly to Lancaster (and sometimes Harrisburg) daily. I was pulled over a few months ago for speeding and the State Trooper didn't even mention it, I of course rolled my windows down to make her feel safe

This statement is true, but applies to one of the two tint codes in PA

This is true, but it ties in to my previous comment. The citation was in fact overturned because the LEO cited the citizen for violating the wrong code. The LEO admitted during his testimony that he could clearly see the citizen within the vehicle. The tints were in fact more than the legal 70%, but the citation cited the code which applies to the inability to clearly view the driver within the vehicle.

The whole issue basically depends on the mood of the cop. I got pulled over for 35% in York Township by the local Evil Knievel because he had a thing about tints from some previous situation locally.
