2 Tickets in VA

So I got 2 tickets at one time, one was for HOV violation (lol) and the other was for my tinted windows.

The one on top is for the HOV and the other is tint. I think it seems over priced can anyone give me their input? Thank you in advance!!

That tint ticket is cheap. My brothers tint ticket was $120ish.

I have no idea about the HOV ticket though. You can't really haggle with the courts.

be lucky VA hasn't implemented higher penalties for HOV violations (CA is about $300 for each). in VA the penalty goes up exponentially for each violation.

as far as tint...gotta pay to play as they say.

you got caught... if you don't want citations, don't commit violations.

sorry if i'm coming off a little harsh, but i don't really see the point in questioning the fines.

Not at all I am fully aware my tint was illegal. Why do signs says HOV violation $100 but mine was 170. I am basically asking if anyone else has gotten anything else similar.

Thanks for the input though

Good question. According to this:

http://www.virginiadot.org/travel/hov-rulesfaq.asp

Fines:

On Hampton Roads HOV lanes: Each offense: $100

Northern Virginia HOV Lane Fines:
First offense: $125
Second offense: $250 plus 3 points on your driving record
Third offense: $500 plus 3 points on your driving record
Fourth offense: $1,000 plus 3 points on your driving record
Theyre charging you $165 for the HOV ticket (since they charge a 4% "convenience" fee on top of that). Im curious to see what the additional $65 is for.

That's what I was going off of ^

And now I'm wondering why it is 170. Has anyone had anything similar happen?

a couple days late to the party but my guess its court cost and processing.

You def got off cheap on the tint, they can write you for each window in violation.

Bingo. I'd bet the tint is a fix-it ticket and the entire amount is court costs while the HOV violation is $100 plus costs.

I've got an idea - why don't you just call and ask.

Negative. The tint is not a fix it. And I've been a little busy lately thanks for the common sense answer.

no court/processing fees? my tint ticket was $92.50 3 years ago. $30 for the offense + $62.50 for court fees. and my friend got one a month ago, his was $115. I guess it depends on the county, whether if there's a court fee or not.

You're lucky you window tint ticket is only $45. I just got one a month ago and it was about $96 dollars. As for the extra $65 in your HOV violation ticket-- its court fees. they charge you that regardless of if you go to court or not.
