Can someone help me identify this part? I was just replacing the knock sensor on my sister's RSX and I was almost done. I was trying to put the intake hose back on between the airbox and the throttle body. There is a vacuum line that runs from the intake hose to a device that appears to open based on coolant temp. I tried looking through Rock Auto to find the part but don't see it listed. There are no markings on the part itself, so any assistance would be much appreciated.
The follow up question is how the hell would you install this thing when not broken? Without that vac tab in place I was able to use a deep socket to get this one out, but with a new one that approach won't work. It doesn't look like there is much room for a wrench either, guessing this will require a crows foot??
So from what I can find this is a intake air bypass control thermal valve which is supposed to help the car warm up a little faster. Consensus is it is not needed and you can plug this coolant port with a 3/8" NPT plug and blank of the two vac lines. I may just give this a try since it is cheap enough to try and proper replacement of this valve appears to require removal of the valve cover.
