Thoughts on the Integra

That wimpy little 1.5L engine, the hideous tacked on screen, and the tiny bunker windows makes for a depressing feeling. No rear AC vents makes it look really cheap, even more than what I previously mentioned. All it is is an upgraded Civic. They would have done better to bring back the RL/RLX instead of this thing. Acura failed big time which isn't surprising.

Took the plunge....

Well well well.... I did it and traded in the S4 for the Integra. I forgot to mention in my above post that another reason the 0-60 times are slower is because I believe it requires an additional shift to hit 60 miles an hr. It does drive faster, or at least feels faster (of course not as fast as my S4 which would do it in about 4.5 seconds). I have not tried a 0-60 run in it yet as it is too new, but perhaps in a few weeks? There is no doubt I will miss the S4's power and refinements, but it does feel good to be back with a Honda!

The market will answer the debate on the Integra once it's released. Absent an economy-wide recession, I expect Acura will be quite pleased with the results.

I’m sure it’s going to be, by all metrics, a great car. But I, as a former integra and still RSX owner, find it a little bland. Personally, I would prefer slightly more power and fewer amenities/lighter weight.

It doesn’t need to impress you to sell them. Given the success of the ILX, the Integra will likely carry on that entry level interest. It’ll also interest those who want Si performance with luxury.

No, it's not click bait. Some of us don't like tiny little cars with puny turbo engines. Some of us aren't looking to play track games every time we get in a car. People like you love these little shit box cars and couldn't appreciate big flagships with tons of room and that drive very smoothly and quietly, like the RLX.

If you objectively look at this thing, you can tell it's not luxury. It's only a tarted up Civic. Since you're not very smart, though, you can't see that.

The larger sedan segment is being eaten by SUVs. Larger sedans, like coupes, are slowing dying. Same goes for manuals. New times and demands. Smaller engines are due to emission standards. Can’t live in the past forever. I personally am not a fan of direct injection due to carbon buildup but it is what it is…I understand the reason for the change instead of ranting about it.

Like "Cash for Clunkers" initiative in 2008-2009, the Large (mainly domestic)SUV market will fall flat on its face when fuel prices go up and the Real recession finally hits. This integra is great to keep the linage going, and it has a manual(thank goodness). Though its design queues arnt those of the mid-2000s, and they shouldnt be I suppose. The true beauty of Acura shines in the mid/late 2000s line up.

YOU FAILED by just stating something that you have no clue! The car isn't even out yet and how can you make a judgement. I guess, you have been pretty good at failing before even starting something...otherwise, would would you state that

As I've said before, this is not Integra, this is ILX, rebadged as Integra to cash in on legendary name. The ILX was a better car; I'd take K24 real VTEC over puny L15 any day, not to mention 8DCT vs CVT. What a joke. The 6MT Integra is just overpriced Civic Si (which Honda purposefully removed features previously had on Si because of Integra...Same crap they pulled with Accord taking away V6 to help TLX sales). I can't imagine who will spend $37K (before any ADM which will be laughably high) on a 1.5T underpowered compact car that does 0-60 in over 7 seconds. Truly laughable.

I might, pending a test drive. If I can get a good handling, sporty, attractive car loaded with lots of features for $8K under the average transaction price of a new car in the US, AND, I can get it with a 6MT and Honda/Acura reliability, and at least 37 mpg, and the utility of a liftback .... uh, yeah.

If you're already ponying up over $40K OTD, you wouldn't rather spend a few thousand more on the Type S (assuming it also can be had with the 6MT)?

If that indeed is the price delta (and the 6MT is available), probably yes. My only reservation would be fuel economy. Assuming the Type S were to come with a variant of the CTR 2.0 engine, which is not exactly known as an MPG champ, that might drive me back to the 1.5. It looks like the CTR gets around 28-29 mpg (highway) in real world fuel economy. The Civic SI in the real world can achieve over 40 mpg (highway) in favorable conditions with the 1.5L and 6MT.

The car we are replacing currently gets 40+mpg highway in favorable conditions. I believe high gas prices are here to stay for the foreseeable future, so I'd hate to regress on that front. And it's not that we can't afford gas -- it's that I don't want to pay any more for it than I really have to.

Seems they didn't learn much from missing out on the PC, web, smartphone, waves lol.

Though Nissan did charge out front w/ the Leaf, just never made a big battery trim and relegating it to 2nd car usage.

The Toyota Mirai might be like the GM EV, decades too early.

My dealership just got our first Aspec Tech integra with 6mt and Ill say this.. the gas door is HUGE... Wondering if they did it that way to one day incorporate an electric plug in...

My views exactly. It ticks so many boxes, including a manageable size for city driving and parking. Assuming I don't go BEV or PHEV, I can't imagine what I would pick over the Integra. For me, its closest competitor might be the Kia Stinger, but the Kia's higher price, larger size, and (relatively) poor fuel economy would push me to the Acura, even though I know I'd prefer the Stinger's driving experience. (Heck, I even liked the 2.0T Stinger despite the lackluster engine. Rear-biased AWD for the win!)

Unfortunately, with my knee arthritis and the suffocating traffic around Philly and NYC (where I frequently drive), I would go CVT with the Integra. The reviews of the CVT are positive enough that I'm betting I could live with it.

We had an extended drive this morning in an ASpec Tech 6MT in Apex Blue with Orchid interior. It's a very nice car. Drives very well. Solid, complaint ride with zero squeaks or rattles. The engine is surprisingly peppy and sounds great. It won't rev to 7K, but it is eager to keep spooling up to redline. Shifting is exactly what you'd expect of a Honda/Acura 6MT. Steering is good and tight, and the individual drive modes make a big difference. We drove the car over a road with some bump and pothole issues, and the car took it all in stride. It was quieter than our Accord EX (2.4/MT) on the highway. The car is quite spacious on the inside, but six footers may brush their head on the roof in back. Cargo area is giant, even with the back seats up. Sound system, tech, etc. all is top notch. No embedded nav -- you need to use your phone and your favorite nav program through Car Play or Android Auto. The interior finish was well done, and seats are quite comfortable. I'm over 6 feet and had plenty of room in front on either side. We didn't have much of an opportunity to play with it, but the configurable dash seems cool, and the head up display is definitely a neat thing. We put our names on the list for a Performance Red/Orchid ASpec Tech.

Maybe not surprisingly, but when we got to the dealer at 10, the car was out on a drive and had previously already been on one. By the time we got the keys a list had formed to test drive it. It's just the first day, but I have a feeling they're going to sell all of these they can build. Great summary! Can't wait to test drive it once it hits the Canadian dealers. People keep saying it's expensive, but that's not true. Integra is priced very well and for $35K you get a fully loaded one. It satisfies enthusiasts and common buyers. (Of course, I am not referring to the enthusiasts of AZ. God forbids. They would have been happy only if the Integra was 250HP, AWD, DCT for AT, MT, 2,800 pounds, 19 inch wheels, standard HUD and pano for $29,550 )

Integra will be a more successful sedan for Acura than TLX. One f the main reasons is cost. The new TLX is expensive and also, that segment is dying...people opt in for Crossover when it comes to pay $50K.

Love the tacked on tablet, cheap hard plastics all over the cabin, all the piano black plastic fingerprint magnet, no AC vents in the back, no covered cup holders (is this an econobox car??), etc.

No rattles or squeaks because IT'S BRAND NEW! I would hope it doesn't, because that would be embarrassing for a car literally rolling off the line.

Doesn't surprise me that Acura fanboys (or girls) are getting hard over this thing.

Hope the following picture doesn't give you diarrhea

Piano black, hard plastic all around the lower dash and cupholders with hard plastic and no covers...This is an A3 for you with $6-$8K higher prices than the Integra. Now go to washroom and push lol!

The sales guys were genuinely excited about the product and the fact that they had customers literally lined up to drive it and that they had a 6MT car to sell again!
One additional thing I should have added is that the view OUT of the car is amazing -- a real throwback to the 90s Honda and Acura products -- low cowl, thin A pillars and low side window sills makes it feel very roomy and bright inside (especially with sunshade open), and the view of the road is excellent.

Let's be honest, the vast majority of Acura buyers are not going to know the difference between a CVT, DCT, or normal torque converter automatic. Enthusiasts make up a very small minority of buyers, and the majority of that minority are going to buy the 6MT anyways. Acura is not concerned about the dozen or so potential buyers who will be turned off by the CVT. If anything, the superior MPGs of the CVT is probably going to capture more buyers than the lackluster performance of a CVT will drive away.

well you made it sound like Acura is the only brand that built a car with these flaws. All the cars in this segment is the same shit. What do you want for $35K?? If you want a car with all the goodies, you’re at the wrong forum. Join Porsche or Bentley. They will give you all.

thank you for the beautiful summary! Whoever is going to buy a car for $35k AT doesn’t give a fcuk about DCT or CVT.

Those that care, will just get the MT.

We can’t expect from any brand to give us A to Z for $35K. If anyone wants a fast and fully loaded car with all the premium material, S class is available

Sorry guys, but I'm with xjokerz on this one. No rattles, gee, I hope not lol given it's brand new. Watch any non-biased review, the car has catastrophic amount of rev hang, falls flat on it's face at 5k rpm and takes 8 seconds to get to 60. Acura literally calls it a "performance sport car" on their website. And then there's the fact that they literally used Civic Si for this, it's the SAME interior. It's not an Acura, if it was, it would have Acura corporate language interior (MDX, RDX, TLX, even the NSX). And then the price...nearly $40K. For THAT? I said last year that Honda took away adaptive dampers, heated seats, fog lights and many other things from the Si (a car that already had all those things) so they can upsell to the Integra. The previous "Integra", known as the ILX had a AMAZING 2.4L true VTEC engine and awesome 8 speed dual clutch. The new ILX aka Integra is a downgrade to that car in every way. At least ILX started in upper 20s, this clown car, if you want to have some decent options is almost $40k. Those people lining up to drive it came to beat on it so they can brag in their FB groups and their YT channels with 500 subscribed how they "test drove the new Integra". None of them will buy it. Of course Acura will sell every one of them they make because they'll make 10 of them a month, like they do with the Type S so it looks like it's selling hot. You want reality? Look at MDX Type S sales. My local dealer who is quite small has 13 Type S in stock because Acura actually made enough of them. They're sitting there.
