RSX Symptom of shocks needing replacement?
Symptom of shocks needing replacement?
Am hearing a bang sounding like front left shock bottoming out when I hit minor potholes while braking and turning right. Doesn't happen otherwise.
Suspect Acura dealer will want to try new shocks but thought I'd get opinions here if it is likely to solve the problem.
2002 base RSX, 70k miles, single owner, original oem shocks, fully stock except for radio, front/rear camera, and LED headlights.
Front left was in an accident 5 years ago (10mph side impact behind driver tire), insurance replaced bent strut and ball joint, probably aftermarket. Within past 5 years, as parts started making noise due to age, replaced sway bars, tie rod ends, control arms, left wheel bearing, and brake rotors/pads. Control arms were aftermarket due to covid parts shortage, everything else is OEM.
Each replacement improved front end noises, this noise seems to be the only one left.
Camber is off 1.5 degrees on that corner likely due to accident and aftermarket repairs (unadjustable with factory parts according to dealer).
Thought on whether shocks are the likely culprit for the sound?
