It has been a while since I posted a thread on my 1996 Integra, thought I’d take a moment to share the car’s recent adventure.
While returning from the coast, the harmonic balancer bolt sheered off the crankshaft while driving home. Destroying the engine, long story short, I had my local mechanic replace the motor with a good used B18B1 (after overhauling the replacement) bringing my Integra back to live to exceed its 255k mile mark on the odometer (considering it was the original engine, I’d say I got my money’s worth out of it). Shop was kind enough to put a lightweight pulley on the crank, making it a little more lively and making less effort of the uphill climb to Seattle on I-5 north from my home in Vancouver, Washington.
I’ll drop some pictures I captured, have a great day! I have video of the actual breakdown, since my dash camera was rolling. I’ll share that eventually. On the truck! A nice drive home, thanks Chapelle’s! Original engine out, might be able to see the messed up crank shaft? Empty engine bay. Back on the road! Stopped for lunch at Pick-Quick in Fife, Washington. Rest stop on the way home, a proper successful shakedown drive.
