New RSX! (Airbag issues too)

Hi,

Just bought a 02 RSX. Car drives incredibly well, love it already.

Unfortunately, my SRS airbag light is on.
1. I tried doing a reset using the SRS plug under the steering column. This didn't work
2. I hotwired the 4-9 pins on the ODBII Service Port.

I am getting a 10-1 error code (10 long flashes- 2 second pause and 1 short flash), which stands for Seatbelt and Seatbuckle tensioners (and Airbags deployed).

The car was in an accident a few years ago. I read this on carfax as it is listed as a 'Minor Accident'. In addition, there is no record of the airbags being deployed. Based on my reading, this could mean the SRS module needs to be replaced.

Need some help here. This is my first car. Everything I have done above was based on web research following the instructions as much as possible. How would I further diagnose the problem?

Thanks,
Antarius

With this model, Acura released a statement extending the warranty for this glitch. My 02 RSX also was in a minor accident before I purchased it and had problems with the airbag sensor. If your local Acura dealership can look up this warranty statement made by Acura, you may be able to have the sensor fixed free of charge

Do you happen to have more info or a link to the official Acura statement?

I have the same SRS problem and would like to look into a fix.

Is calling Acura too difficult? Extending the warranty would be based on miles and/or years which your Acura dealers service department will be glad to tell you. Registering your car on www.acura.com will also help. You'll need your vin # to register.

Could be the passenger side airbag sensor (OPDS). Mine (on an 02 RSX) failed at ~100k miles, SRS light turned on.
