Car overheats only when foot on gas

My car has been having a overheating problem when only I press the gas, when driving around if I’m over 2000rpm the car will overheat bad, but whenever I’m off the gas the temp will go down slowly, I’ve been having this issue for like a week now, I thought it would be my water pump since it’s never been replaced so I just replaced it today but it didnt fix anything, thermostat was also replaced 2 months ago and can see that it opens and closes, I have a mishimoto rad with mishimoto fans, I currently have the fans jumped with paper clip so they’re always on, my mechanic told me that it’s probably the coolant temp sensor for the cluster, not the one on the bottom of rad, oil has been checked and no signs of a bad head gasket

Is #18 the 'coolant temp sensor for the cluster' that your mechanic recommends??
If so, try changing it & report back with the results?
If you don't want to spend the $$ on an OEM sensor, input the appropriate part number into rockauto.com for a lower cost aftermarket version.

Forgot to even mention what car I have, I have 05 rsx turbo k24, I also deleted both heater hoses that go from the engine to firewall

I just took out the sensor and inspected it and it looked fine, I’m still going to replace it anyway since it’s already out. Another thing is that when I plugged in my ktuner the temp also goes up with the gauge so i know that the temp needle isn’t inaccurate
