Adaptive Dampers

Hi All and Happy New Year! I wanted to ask a question about Adaptive Dampers. My apologies in advance as I am new here and honestly, though I have become more educated with cars through watching video's etc., I am for lack of a better description still very dumb when it comes to cars but trying my best to learn. Also apologies if this question was already asked. I recently traded in my base Integra for an A-Spec with the Tech package and it came with Adaptive Dampers. I googled what it is but I guess I am confused about two things. 1) Is this something that you can actually feel in your car? and 2) what is the difference between this and regular suspension? Thanks and any input is appreciated.

The adaptive dampers affect the firmness of the suspension. Sport mode is the firmest, normal is in the middle, and comfort is the softest setting.

You can select the individual setting and "customize" a drive setting for the following variables: engine responsiveness, suspension firmness and steering effort. I think sport mode also makes the exhaust a little sportier sounding.

Appreciate it. I was trying to compare the feeling to the base Integra I had and my wife's current TLX A-Spec and I honestly don't notice any differences but to be fair, I normally just drive my car on comfort. Perhaps if I drove it in Sport, I may notice it. Thanks again for your response.

Once you spend some time in the car and get used to each mode, I think you'll start to feel the differences. Ours has a very noticeable difference in engine responsiveness in sport versus normal/comfort.

I will try out the sport mode, have to admit though, as I get older, comfort is about right haha. TY again for your responses.

Reading this got me wondering if Adaptive Dampers on the Integra provide for an active versus passive suspension? I did a quick look on the web and did not find an answer.

I'm not certain either. I saw a post today on another Integra forum suggesting that the suspension module (made by Sachs, I think) does perform actively. This, I believe, was for a Type S.

Not sure if the non-ITS models have the same suspension module.

What I do know is that our A Spec has a more compliant suspension (with seemingly infinite travel) than any car I've owned. Acura nailed the settings/hardware on this car.
