Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum. I have a 2013 ILX and as I was driving to work today my door open light came on, I shut it but it still proceeded to come on after. As the light came on the overhead lights would turn on and the doors would unlock, after about 10 seconds the doors would lock, and the lights and warning sign would go off. This happened about 6 or 7 times within 5 minutes. Has anyone else experienced this? Would this contribute to the battery, alternator? Or just electrical issues? I keep having problems with this car. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

 

Sounds like the door switch is loose or going out. Yes, if the lights come on while parked it will cause battery drain.

 

I would suspect it's the door switch failing. It would explain all the problems you described. What other problems have you had with this car?

Thank you for sending the link to the right piece. I was checking out rockauto but was unsure of which one I needed. I've had lots of problems with the tires, I think due to the fact that I live in Colorado and it's a low profile car but I am replacing 1-2 times a year. The a/c compressor and serpentine belt just broke at 144k miles and that was not a cheap fix, two winters ago a pressure gauge went out - I think that's it. Otherwise it's been a great car, great on gas.
