Maintenance Messages - Need detailed info
While driving my 2013 ILX Hybrid today, warning messages appeared on my multi-information display and then on the information screen. Where can I find more information about the displayed messages, other than visiting a dealer?
- Note: The messages included "check charging system", "check IMA system", and "check brake system".
- On the info screen I saw maintenance codes for "IMA System: P1437", "IMA System: P1440", and "Brake System Booster: 83". I was able to listen to a message for each, but in every case the recommendation was to visit a dealer.
There is no Acura dealer in the city where I live and my car is out of warranty, so I'd like to get some more details; searches of this site and the internet have not provided any information on these messages/codes.

It may be something as mundane as your regular car battery is dying/ dead. I have seen the ILX throw a bunch of weird flashing codes and make a weird ass jarring kind of noise that freaked me out when i first heard it, haha... When temps get extreme in either direction, cars act up. In California right now, we are experiencing a slight heat wave after some "cold" (for California) weather.... ESPECIALLY heat waves tend to kill electrical stuff...overheat it/ overload it...
I would try a simple free battery check at Autozone, Pep Boys, O'Reilly's, etc... When troubleshooting, ALWAYS start with the most obvious and easy fix FIRST... While you are there, ask them about it... But you should make an appointment already anyway at the dealer, go in ASAP...
Which my battery is about to die soon, this year's summer heat will definitely finish it off ... I'm pretty sure... But I have a portable jump starter, charged and ready to go in the glove box. I've used it at least 3 different times so far, not just on my car... Was definitely worth the purchase... recommend you look into that too... Costco, $60+ tax

With you being out of warranty, it's best to take it to an independent shop to troubleshoot and scan for problems
