HID Lights and Repair Info
Trying to figure out why my HID bulbs are both flickering intermittenlty after only 1 year of replacing them. 2014 Acura ILX. They are D2S bubls for the low beams.
I noticed they fit loosely into the socket and even the clip does not hold them well. When I pulled one of them out (driver's side) the ceramic insulator has a crack.
When I start driving over bumps on the road, is when either light starts intermittenly flickering. Could it be bad ballasts?
For those who have replaced these bulbs, did you have to install a spacer or an O-ring to keep the bulb tight in place?
Finally, where can I find a quality repair manual for 2014 Acura ILX. Very difficult to find and I see some on ebay for 75 dollars in a oracle virtualbox machine (vm).
Not sure how reputable they are, or their information.

Nobody can answer this question? I have the same issue. D2S bulb fits very loosely in both sockets and just rattling around. Is there an OEM specific part? I called the dealer for a 2014 Acura ILX, and they say the part number is 33116ST7003, aftermarket D2S. The D2S doesn't fit without loosely rattling around.
The bulbs fit tight and okay in the ignitor socket. It seems the problem is when installing the D2S bulb first in the headlamp socket, the retainer string clip doesn't hold it well in place and it rattles around. The previous bulb was damaged from this rattle.
The ignitor fits fine over the bulb in the headlamp socket. I believe it may be the spring if you notice in the pictures even when it's fully locked it doesn't hold the bulb.

Yeah the retaining spring looks like it may have been tweaked improperly to the point where it is not putting pressure on the bulb properly. Try taking it off and bending it back into form.
Still doesn't fix the problem with intermittent bulbs flickering/dying. I think the ballasts for both bulbs are worn down from all the autostarts when entering the garage and then immediatley shitting down.
