2016 Brake light bulb Replacement

I took it apart since bulb went out after a week of ownership.
Looks like I have to open up the whole housing to replace it since its not a big bulb. Looks like a led strip inside.

Anyone have the technical manual for the 2016 acura ilx?
Looking to see how its fixed so I can just do it myself before I take it to the dealership.

By trying to fix it yourself you are setting yourself up for having the dealership refuse warranty service on that repair. More importantly, Acura may refuse warranty repairs on future electrical gremlins.

I would assume if the actual integrated brake lights went out (either the red running strips, or high power brake lights), you can take it to the dealer and have them replace the entire unit. Those things are supposed to last the lifetime of your car and shouldn't fail.

The only lights that are serviceable in the tail lights are the reverse lights (16W Halogen, or 921 LED from Philips), and the turn signals (7440 Halogen, or aftermarket LED of your choice)

Any update on this?

I'm damn amazed the brake light system failed on your 'ILX. But its definitely something that should be fully covered under the warrantee so long as you didn't brake anything in your diagnostic process.

Went to Acura dealership on Tuesday. They trouble shot it and found out it was defective. Ordered a new tail light. And today they installed it. So now I have a working tail light again.
There is no way of changing the led without ordering a new one or opening up the housing to get to it. I feel like the LED brake light better last a lifetime cause no one is going to cough up $300+ everytime the brake light goes out.

If this becomes an issue then Acura will have to do what VW had to with the Golf and extend the warranty to account for their not meeting the requirements of FMVSS (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Specifications) 108 as listed below. Bolding is mine

S5.1.1.27 (a) Except as provided in paragraph (b) of this section, each passenger car manufactured on or after September 1, 1985, and each multipurpose passenger vehicle, truck, and bus, whose overall width is less than 80 inches, whose GVWR is 10,000 pounds or less, manufactured on or after September 1, 1993, shall be equipped with a high-mounted stop lamp which:
(1) Shall have an effective projected luminous lens area not less than 2903 square mm. (41/2 square inches).
(2) Shall meet the visibility requirements specified in S5.3.2(c).
(3) Shall have the minimum photometric values in the amount and location listed in Figure 10.
(4) Need not meet the requirements of paragraphs 3.1.6 Moisture Test, 3.1.7 Dust Test, and 3.1.8 Corrosion Test of SAE Recommended Practice J186a, Supplemental High-Mounted Stop and Rear Turn Signal Lamps, September 1977, if it is mounted inside the vehicle.
(5) Shall provide access for convenient replacement of the bulb without the use of special tools.
