Swap Instrument Panel?

Have a 2014 ILX base model.

Would like to swap the instrument panel with a newer year model. I like the updated graphics and compass.

Is it simply plug and play? Same size?

Basically, I got a good deal on my car last year and I will manage to have it paid off in a couple months. I plan on keeping it for a few years. So I dont mind investing in updating whatever I can. I mean small scale upgrades/swaps.....

I had a 2013 base and now have a 2017 premium, I can tell you if you want to put in some serious $$$ in this swap anything is possible.

The compass you are referring to is only available on the 2016+ tech which has the Navigation.

From the top my head you’ll need to swap out the following

instrument cluster
GPS unit
7 inch touch screen
8 inch display

If you want to just swap out the instrument cluster sure why not but none of the information like compass, tire pressure monitor etc will be displayed

Ive called around and the dealerships all said the head unit can not be swapped because its programed or tied into the engine??

So would the cluster and GPS unit be enough? Or does everything tie into the headhunt?

FYI....Im a girl.....so take it easy on me. I dont know anything about this stuff. If I ask stupid or mundane questions, please forgive me

The short answer is no.

If an integrated gps is what you are looking for, search for navtool. It’s a device that connects to the the back of your head unit and you can mirror your phone to the screen and control your music and stuff.

Not it sure if it’s compatible with the smaller screen in the base model tho.

Might be cheaper to just sell and buy the newer model you want. The problem with trying to hack parts together from differing model years is that the dealer won't support it. Meaning, it might work.. but if it doesn't, they are not going to figure it out for you.
