Running power from batt to trunk?

I need to run a power line to the trunk for my tow hitch/trailer on my 2016 ILX. I figure that many have run power to their amps, and this would be the same. Can someone advise me? with pictures would be good. Thanks in advance!

You're going to actually tow something?

The maximum load for your vehicle is 850 lbs (385 kg). See Tire and Loading Information label attached to the driver's doorjamb.
This number is for passengers and cargo. The clutches in the transmission, brakes, and handling will be on the edge at the 850 lbs.

the vehicle payload capacity and the towing capacity are different. if similar to a civic or an integra, i'd imagine the towing capacity would be around 1000 lbs.

If you follow the link you will find this..

.Maximum Load Limit

WARNING

Overloading or improper loading can affect handling and stability and cause a crash in which you can be hurt or killed. Follow all load limits and other loading guidelines in this manual.

Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR): The maximum allowable weight of the vehicle, all occupants, all accessories, and all cargo.

You asked the question, if you don't want to follow the harsh reality, go with what you think is right. By the way, GVWR is more than just a suggestion, it's punishable by law.

And as I was implying the GVWR does not include the towing capacity. All occupants, all accessories and all cargo = payload (aka what's over your axles/tires). It would include the tongue weight, if I was towing.

GVWR would not include the trailer or what I'm hauling. Again, only the tongue weight would go towards GVWR.

Here you go, from your linked page, DaIll1...

"In addition, the total weight of the vehicle, all occupants, accessories, cargo, and trailer tongue load must not exceed the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or the Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR)."

answer to the question?

I need the answer to this question. He didn't ask if it was safe. he asked how to send the power cord from the battery to the trunk. Im hopping there is an easy way with out making a hole through the firewall.

The reason why the question was never answered because it's a straight forward install....

Run cables to the trunk.....
Either finding a hole through the firewall or drilling a hole through the firewall....then running cables under carpet/running board/trim till it reaches trunk

Im asking because its not so start forward. Its way to tight behind the motor to drill a hole and there is only two holes that exist. one is all they way across the motor on the passenger side. the other one that i would like to use is behind the driver side wheel well and hard to get to. im asking what other people did to help pick the best way.

I don't know about the firewall end yet, but exiting the trunk is easy. There is a nice perforation on the drivers side at the edge of the spare well.
Here is a shot between the bumper bar and spare well. I used it when running brake light power to my diffuser light.

get in where you fit in.

you can always use the door jambs. firewall holes, drill holes. etc. etc.
in a previous car, there was a hole in the dead pedal. look every where for the best possible way.
