Hello

Is there a wire in the trunk area which I can tap to get power for a trunk mounted device? (No, it's not a bomb ;-) It draws no more than 0.5 Amp at 12 V. Power needs shut off when the engine is off to avoid draining the battery - kind of like the cigarette lighter power. I searched the forum for "trunk power" and didn't find a definite answer.

only thing i can think is the stock amp power line. prolly the closest thing to the trunk or just run a 10 ft wire to the fuse box on the passenger side. if u want.

 

Do you have a trunk light?

Or the trailer plug in hidden behind the left rear cover in the trunk, has power for 12v lights

 

did you think about tapping into the wire for the trunk light........

 

Thank you for suggestions. I'll look for the trailer line. I did see the trunk light but - does it go through a switch and has power only when the trunk is open?

 

yeah i don't know if the switch for the light is on the lid or on the latch in the trunk......you could also look into the 3rd brake light......

 

the swith for the trunk light is on the lock on the lid, you would have to put that thig apart, and you could get live wire there, or maybe get it from the tubing that leads to the switch, and catch it before it goes into the swith, than you will have power

 

The trailer wires and the 3rd brake light would only have power when the lights are on...
