Window Visors Request To Acura
Window Visors Request To Acura
Hey Guys,
I know its a long shot, but I thought I would try to get as many ILX owners involved I have called Acura Client Relations to request Widnow Visors for the ILX and the representitive advised me to subnmit the idea to their email too. I thought I would post the info here to try and get as many owners as possible to do the same to try and show them there is a market for them if they decide to produce them
Phone Number: (800) 382-2238
Email: acr@ahm.acura.com
Twitter: twitter.com/AcuraClientCare
It just takes a few minutes and it would be awesome if we could get them to go ahead and make them for the ILX
Thanks John

All right people update - so now I have a test fit for the visors set on Friday at 1pm. But now the dude is saying it could be 2 months before we see these visors. WTF. Yeah and also I had to call him to follow up on it… I'm getting a vibe maybe he's not serious about it… hope I'm wrong. He was supposed to text or e-mail me the address… He didn't. I dunno maybe he's just lagging it. The place is only 15-20 minutes from my house so I don't really need the address, I could just find it by driving through the area. Yeah kinda stalker-ish, haha. So yeah.. I was hoping quick turnaround… doesn't really sound like it…
And I haven't done the request yet for Acura OEM visors yet but will do. I originally sent out like 10 requests to different visor manufacturers. The dude that is gonna test fit was the only one who said yes. Weathertech did give an auto reply, so I'm thinking they are also the next best bet, we just need a ton of requests to them.
Last but not least, the moonroof visor from the 2012 and up civic SUPPOSEDLY fits this car (makes sense). Another guy SAID he had it on (i saw a moonroof visor on his car in pics). I already bought it, but bad weather right now, can't/ don't want to throw it on right now. Will confirm fitment ASAP.
Alright people - TEST FITMENT FOR WINDOW VISOR TEMPLATE COMPLETE! AWWWW YEAH! So some good news and bad news… The template will be sent to the manufacturer (gonna keep it real here - TAIWAN) and then a prototype will be sent back to the distributor (dude who did the template). Once he gets that he will hit me up for PROTOTYPE fitment. Then (if no issues, or after they fix issues) they will make a batch of 100. Normally they charge about 40-50 bucks a set, BUT since this set will have chrome lining, it will run more like 60-80 (final price TBD). So heres the bad news - prototype set will take 1-2 moths to get made, and then 1-2 months more for production and shipment of batch of 100. SO - 2-4 months until these actually are available. The dude said probably ready for summer. So... YAY?
Although these will be made in Taiwan - I have used their visors before on my previous cars. They were really high quality smoked acrylic - comparable to Weathertech. Although I would say Weathertech's in channel system, with its clips, is a little nicer overall. But it is also more expensive. Just saying - it's not your normal cheap-ass knockoff stuff from China or Taiwan. He also said he MAY produce a rear roof visor and a bug deflector for the car. He did not take templates from my car though. He said he needs a stand-alone hood by itself to take the template for the bug deflector. I already have a rear roof visor on, so he didn't take a template for one. He said he'll probably buy the one I have off of egay, and then use those measurements to come out with an acrylic rear roof visor that extends out more. So that could be an option for some of you dudes if you're willing to wait like 4 months (at least) for the rear roof visor.
Sorry dudes I don't think the template guy will be able to do a group buy thing for us. He's more of a middle man, not really set up to send out to individuals. I'll make sure I ask him though. And I know one of his distribution end points in San Diego, so maybe that guy could do it for us. Either way, I think it's gonna be closer to 70-80 a set. Also to clarify - it would ONLY be a set of 100 with chrome lining ONLY. The comments I made about non chrome lining visors were in reference to past vehicles I owned (got the visors from the San Diego end point guy). Those vehicles had no chrome lining at all. So originally, I THOUGHT he would just make them like that. But he surprised me a lot by saying he would, and I hadn't even brought it up yet.
Sounds like youve got a plan. When you get the final version put on ask him where to direct others to purchase the same product. Im sure he'll give you a number or site we can go on.
If not then you got hooked up. haha

Hey people I was able to put the moonroof visor on. Couple important notes. The bolts have a torque value. I did not have a torque wrench so i just payed a master honda/acura tech to throw it on for me. I attempted to do it myself, but on doing some research on the 9th gen civic forums, I found out that a lot of the people who did it themselves had ended up either scraping their paint, leaving it loose enough where it whistled loudly, left indents from over-tightening, or cracked the visor itself. The tech charged me less then half what the dealership wanted. it took him about 45 mins to install. I can tell you that its one of those things where you can see its very simple, but also very easy to do wrong. If you have the right tools, and are willing set aside at least an hour to play it safe, i'd say do it on your own. If not, save the guesswork and regret and just find a tech who will do it right for cheap.
Hey people. Update I called the dude today about the window visors…. still in production… he said to call him back in mid to late April for update… wtf…. whyyyyyyyyyy NOOOOOOOOO….. yeah so waiting game continues… Cmon competitors - TAKE MY MONEY!
