Synthetic Oil 2.4L

What brand/grade (semi-synthetic/full synthetic...) of motor oil is best for the 2.4L and what are you using?

you've just opened up a can of worms.

you'll want to take a look at the specs of the oil.
a higher HTHS rate is good!
a lower High Temp High sheer rate will sheer at higher temperatures!

redline 5w-30 is a synthetic oil with a HTHS rate of almost 4%!

Mobile 1 EP which it says is a synthetic, but is more of a synthetic blend has a sheer rate of 2%

In short: it doesnt matter the brand or type of oil used.
what matters MOST is if you regularly change it at intervals found via MID.

A friend, who's an experienced mechanic just recommended for this car 0W-20 Full Synthetic (as does the manual). Also recommended an earlier oil change than typically, for the first tme, even tough the reading of the oil life % states otherwise.

Indeed. This is often debated and I'm not anxious to 'argue' the point but I'll at my

fioravantim, Acura tells us that there is a break in additive in the factory fill. They recommend that you keep the original fill in the engine till the car tells you to change it. Generally, it's also recommended not to switch to synthetic too early because it can slow down the break in process. In the end you can do what you want, but IMO, you can't go wrong by following Acura's directions.

Forgot to mention that I will be using 0W-20 Full Synthetic given the winter is approaching in the northeast.

Thanks Colin. After doing some search, i will wait to get my first oil change once the oil indicator reaches 15%

Information contained in this link (http://www.curryacura.com/acura-main...inder-faqs.htm) is useful.
