Scratched Windshield! So Bummed. Suggestions?

Hey guys,

So my windshield got a nasty scratch in it this weekend.

Apparently some grit was on my windshield wiper and it scratched my windshield when I turned on the wipers. It a longggg scratch. Pretty much from the where the wiper starts to where it stops. It's not very deep but certainly noticeable and really pisses me off.

What do you guys suggest? I've been giving the advice to take it to acura.

You can buy a glass polish and a special pad for your DA polisher, but it sounds like that scratch is going to be too deep to get rid of.

Before trying it on your own, I'd take it to a local glass shop - preferably an older, established 'mom 'n pop' operation, unaffiliated with chains like Safelite - and ask for their honest advice. Tell them you're going to live with it regardless (to let them know they won't be selling you a new windshield today) but also that you really want to remove or minimize it if possible. You might be surprised at what they can do, and cheaply at that.

also, check your insurance policy.
some offer free windshield replacements, or even $250 deductibles

I had the same issue? I also read somewhere that the ilx uses cheaper glass as part of the way to keep the cost down? I have a whole whack on the left side from the wipers and the right one is brand new from a squeegy at the gas station. Drove a csx for 6 years and never had an issue with a scratched windshield. 1.5 years with this stupid ilx and my windshield is completely crapped

The scratches don't appear deep. Is there any easy way to buff them out?

If they ate shallow yes they can be buffed out.
after almost 2 years of ownership I have no scratches on the glass. I wash the car religiously every week and three times now by third party car washes. Never scratched. I think you're using the wrong material. Also don't use squeegees. Especially gas station squeegees. That's asking for a scuffed up windshield.

I had a wiper scratch on the windshield of my last car, imperceptible to the touch but impossible to remove. I tried about four different polishing methods before I gave up and replaced the windshield.
