questions about voiding the warranty

hey guys, im new to the acurazine forum but i saw you guys had a group for ilx's so i joined. i bought this beautiful bellanova white pearl ilx last month and i just wanted to do basic things to it to have a basic clean lookin ride since im used to driving lowered civics . what my question is, would my 3yr/60k mile bumper to bumper warranty void if i threw on some wheels and tein street coilovers ? i know the lips wouldnt matter since they only have oem ones on the market right now and the rims shouldnt matter much either?

the coils will void warranty for suspension, bushings, and anything that breaks or gets scraped up from being lowered (oil-pan, exhaust, etc).

Seems like you just bought it. Compounded with the fact that its a first gen model. Maybe you should consider just keeping it stock for a couple of months to observe for problems. Then after you're confident there aren't any major problems then go ahead and mod it...

As spandpwr noted the onus is on you after you mod to prove that any problems arising are independent of the alteration.

Same topic has been covered extensively:

Just do wheels and wait a bit on the coilovers until we see if there really are some suspension issues that have been mentioned by others.

Also important to note that the suspension bushings used in the ILX are different than those in the Si. Not sure if compatibility hinges on that, but you should note that any suspension that has been tested and works on the Si, was tested using different bushings.

Thanks guys for all your answers.
@spdandpwr i didnt think scaping the oilpan would void it. But thanks i learned something new. Also i wasnt 100% sure on the plug and play because on the teinusa blog, it just said they were compatible without mods.

@rxj27 And yeah i just bought it, thanks to the stafus of thr first gen, i barely owned it for a week. I had to take it back to the dealer the next morning on a tow truck because the car had major transmission problems. Sat at the dealer for almost two weeks because they had to order a new trans from japan.

@Terdonal i was considering already doing that since im sure wheels womt really void anything and if i had to visit the dealer for any reason i could always throw the stock ones back on. But now im worried about wheel choice.

@Acura_dude thanks for clearimg that warranty thing up, and thanks man. I appreciate it. It feels nice to be welcomed into a forum and everyone giving great info and advice unlike the immature kids on the other forum i use.

Ps. I wasnt really looking to do major mods, just shorten the wheel gap because it looks so empty and ugly but i guess ill have to live with it for a while.

Welcome!

Tires will not void your warranty but the coils will. As the others have said.
