Project ILX Type-S

Project ILX Type-S
As some of you may know, I recently acquired a 2013 Acura ILX w/ the 6 speed (2.4 premium package). After a couple of days of hard driving (the car was smoking the other day), I came to the conclusion that I'm gonna start a build thread a make some "edits" to the car. I'll post pics and what not tonight.
Fyi, here's what's on order:
Short Ram Intake:

Honda Civic Si Engine Cover:

Boomba Motor Mounts:

I will also post up a review and initial impressions. Coming from an Acura TSX, I can say that I'm thoroughly impressed.

Awesome! Driving the car hard enough to have smoke coming out of it, eh? Are you past the break-in period at least?
These look like some nice upgrades. The ILX has a lot of potential. I've been thinking it'd be fun to look into suspension alternatives to give it a little more aggressive stance. Are you going to do anything cosmetically - wheels, etc?
Post some pics of your car. And congratulations.

I'll post pics tonight. Unfortunately, I didn't properly break in the this car because I saw how the tech was driving it during the first 28 miles and was like, well clearly this car ain't going to need a break-in. It is what it is, and given the concessions the dealer was making to give me such a great deal, I wasn't going to complain. The car is virtually untainted.
Also, I think the smoke was because the engine plastics are new, not because I was driving like some maniac.
Regarding suspension, I actually have taken proactive steps to find out which components from the Honda Civic will transfer over. I've been speaking with some parts manufacturers about setting up a test fit.
In terms of cosmetics, I will likely keep it limited to what you've done to yours, spoiler kit, and tints. I have ordered yellow fog lights because I prefer the look and the added visibility. But, yea, I'm not too keep on making this a real looker, its literally going to look like something that came out of the Acura dealer.

Haha, I was about to get the polished metal metallic, but I ended up going to another Acura dealer to show my brother the car and, at that dealer, was a Crystal Black Pearl. The salesman matched the numbers the other dealer offered and I took delivery that same day. Lol, I had to cancel the order on the Polished Metal Metallic. It's funny how things work sometimes; I like this color a lot more than the PMM, but I'm weary about the upkeep required for a black colored car.

The ELS stereo has a lot of distortion at higher volumes and navi comes courtesy of bluetooth phone integration, plus a backup garmin in my glove box. Do I want a tech pack, yea, and will I be able to live without it, yea

Can't wait to see pics of what the exhaust looks like. Really my only peeve is the lack of visible exhaust and if there was one thing I could mod, that's what it'd be.

First thing I'd add if you want to get better performance out of it is an LSD to tame the issues that come with "performance driving" and wrong-wheel-drive. The unit from the Si should go right in.

I reached out to Hondata regarding a reflash for the 2.4 ILX, waiting to hear what they have to say. Given that the ECU is the same between this model and the 2012, the application should be relatively easy:
Since the engines are virtually identical, I thought I'd post this so you guys can see the potential of this motor...
Hondata Releases 2012 Civic Si ECU Reflash!!
US 2012 Civic Si with K24Z7 engine (ECU part number 37820-RX0-A03 through RX0-A05)
Pricing
This reflash is specifically tuned for the USDM 2012+ Civic Si K24Z7.
K24Z7-Si ECU flash program 7600 rpm rev limit - $295
Hondata does not sell direct - all sales and payment must be conducted through Hondata dealers. The upgrade information form must be sent with your ECU.
Details
The K24Z7-Si program advances the ignition, alters the cam timing and optimizes the fuel adding 4-10 ft lb across the rev range and up to 20 hp on the top end.

^I spoke with CT Engineering and they mentioned the following in reference to the difference between the 2012 si coupe exhaust and the ilx:
Nope, there are other differences as well. The b-pipe tube that connects to the cat needs to be longer, the hangers are a different diameter and the hanger location is different in some spots. I don't have any pictures of the exhaust installed but if my memory serves me correct, you would need to clearance about 3-4 inches off the bottom lip of the TSX to clear the exhaust tip.
I need to wait til they release the sedan version of their exhaust for the Si so I can be sure that what I install will work. It'll happen!
