Cool No tech pkg for 2.4 6MT

I just got a little bit sick. The demo car looked sooooo nice at the auto show. I was so excited to hear that they'd paired the 2.4 with the 6MT. Then I see today that there's no technology package available for what is, to my mind, the premier drivetrain configuration in the ILX lineup. There's no way to pair a 6 speed with Navi. That's just dumb.

It's like Acura has some self-sabotage thing going on.

So sad.

That car is already priced higher then its competition, add the Tech Package and it gets even worse. The 2.4l will be only 5% of production. That is already a pretty small number, add the tech package as another option and it gets pretty hard to find one that will meet your desire. At that price point you might as well buy a TSX.

But with the same problem: if you want 6 MT, no Tech package.

ILX is 400 pounds lighter, and has some extra features like Color Screen, SMS text, Pandora, and backup camera. But, loses size, exhaust tips, and power passenger seat.

If you want smaller car, than ILX is the way to go.

So the tl is the only one available with 6spd manual and nav. But then Acura also limits you to only a black interior and no advance package. It seems like a pack of monkeys are running Acura...

Incorrect, the tsx most certainly comes with 6 speed and navigation.

This was discontinued in 2012. Now the only TSX that comes in manual is the SE which does not have a tech package.

That is incorrect, Jcaron9gt4, and mrstak explained it: in 2012 and for the foreseeable future, you CANNOT get a 6sp manual unless you opt for the SE, and then there is no option for the Tech package. The last chance you have to get a 6sp and Tech TSX is 09-11, and good luck finding any new 11s at this point so off to the used market one would need to go.

What a STUPID thing for Acura to do.

a) No tech 2.4 6MT.
b) No 6AT 2.4.

I mean, do they actually want people to buy this car? Why not let people option it up as they please?

I understand they feel that most people will want a fuel-efficient 2.0 6AT and that's going to be their volume vehicle, but no halo ILX, and at the price they want for them?

I'll take a TSX, please.

Lack of tech package on this version scratches the whole thing off my list ...

If you're going to get the 6MT then you shouldn't care about the tech package.... you're buying the car because it's more "fun" to drive, not because it has more gizmos...

Lol what an ignorant thing to say. Who are you to tell people what they should care about. I cared about manual transmission and navigation. Acura should take notes from BMW and let us configure our cars as we want

this will all be fixed in the mid cycle updates in 2014. 5AT will be replaced with CVT and the 2.0 will get direct injection. The 6MT 2.4L will likely be dropped if sales are poor. In canada the csx type-s (tech, 2L 197hp, 6mt) was dropped in midcycle refresh because of poor sales.

2014 won't be the mid cycle update but Acura has said they will not wait on that to incorporate the Earth Dreams engines and tranmissions. Let's hope thier CVT is better than the others. They are making a big bet on it since thier new Accord will be using the CVT as the mainstay transmission.

cvt is cvt. my lawn mower has one and my friends maxima has one. it is noisy (whines) slow (lags) and annoying (no gears). it's also corny because of the simulated gears. either way this will not happen any time soon... 2+ years. it will definately be better than the 5AT to 1/4 mile, might be same or worst to 60.

Like it or not it is coming to the Accord later this year. Ready or not, here they come! Honda claims they have worked out these issues. We'll see soon enough. If the CVT is a bust it will tank thier Accord sales and that would be a huge issue for Honda. They can hardly afford another set back.

Whether this means they come to the Acura brand next model year who knows. But other than a 6 speed (manual and auto) transmission for V6 engines, all Accords will have CVTs next year.

If Subaru can make a good one, Honda can also do it . My wife's Outback doesn't whines and the "corny" gears is what you use if you need extra acceleration. I have gotten use to have no gears. All 4 cyl Accords will have one and it will be the same for the ED engines.

I really dislike the CVTs (but then again, I'm no AT fan either), but I acknowledge they do increase MPG. The Nissan Altima 4 cylinder has been exclusively CVT for a couple of years, and it does not seem to have harmed the sales of that car. As one who may be in the market for an Accord in the future, I'm just glad to see they'll offer the 6MT with the 4 cylinder.

At this point Honda needs to try something. Their auto transmissions are such crap it's Honesly an embarrassment. Of the accord owners I know. ALL of them had to replace their transmissions. Every single person. V6 and i4 owners alike. Years owned: 96,98,01,04,09 the 09 didn't even have 60,000 miles yet! That's a horrific track record. And we had to fight to get the 09 PARTIALLY Paid for by Honda. I spoke to the service tech at acura and he said the Acuras very rarely have transmisson problems but then again Honda said the same thing about the accord transmissions. I have heard that regular maintenance is more frequent and more expensive for the CVT ie much more fluid as compared to a standard automatic. Guess we will see. I find then annoying to drive. Feels like driving a manual with a failing clutch all the time. The CVT brings new meaning to the term "hunting" in transmisson terminology.

94 Accord 235K no problems . Got used to driving the cvt on my wife's Outback. I like it, very smooth, and would consider buying a car with one in the future.
