New Project Car to Help my ILX

So I have had a 2.8L V6 and 5 speed transmission out of an Audi A4 sitting in my garage for a few months now. A buddy of mine gave me a car for nothing as I helped him fix his S4.

So about an hour from my house was a 1996 Audi A4 Quattro with a blown motor and transmission for $800. I talked him down to $600 and drove down with my Dad and his Dodge Ram and we trailored it home.

So I now have a winter car . Acura will be put on jackstands in the garage for the winter with a cover on it. I just have to swap the motor in next week.

Does anyone else have a winter beater?

Well, i wouldn't call mine a winter beater. But i do have a 2002 Honda Civic (255,000 miles) that i use around locally. I use the Civic largely so that i don't rake up 30,000miles on the ILX, presuming i will someday trade it in.

I've been driving my 2001 MR2 Spyder "toy" a lot more this winter than I expected to, which means I've put just under 3,000 miles on the ILX since buying it in early October. I even used it on a marathon Christmas Eve shopping trip!

The Spyder doesn't make very much sense when its top is up, but I greatly enjoy driving it - the experience is far more "elemental" than the ILX, which rides, drives and feels positively cushy by comparison.
